Finally! Someone who understands Trump. As I said previously when everyone was moaning and groaning about nasty Megyn Kelly’s questions, this is what Trump does for a living, except much easier. He’s a master at the game of persuading people to support his ideas, as proven by the only measurement that really matters. He is also a master of leverage - using others money and resources to get what he wants. In the first 30 seconds of the debate, he paid a cheap down-payment on Fox News for the duration of the campaign. Kelly is irrelevant, the whole Ailes thing is a cover story - you can bet your last cable payment that when Trump raised his hand, it would take wild horses to pull FNC away from covering this man’s every move.

Trump knew it, and that’s why he did it without hesitation.

Maybe Trump is way smarter than we think

You are so right. Do anyone think this billionaire made it without being extremely intelligence. We are seeing only just the surface of an extremely complex and strong man.

Can't argue with this:
If you’re keeping score, in the past month Trump has bitch-slapped the entire Republican Party, redefined our expectations of politics, focused the national discussion on immigration, proposed the only new idea for handling ISIS, and taken functional control of FOX News. And I don’t think he put much effort into it. Imagine what he could do if he gave up golf.
I think that's why his numbers are so high. People are starting to imagine and it works for them.

It works because he's believable cast in that role.

He seems more like a team owner/coach whereas the other candidates seem more like drivers or players.

One comment on the linked site has this quote:
“One thing I’ve learned about the press is that they’re always hungry for a good story, and the more sensational the better. … The point is that if you are a little different, or a little outrageous, or if you do things that are bold or controversial, the press is going to write about you.” (The Art of the Deal, 1987)

Trump isn't just winging it, he's following his own playbook for generating free press, which he laid out years ago.

But think about his prescription for generating buzz. The GOP strategy since Reagan has been to never be "outrageous", never be "controversial" and never be "bold". And it never works. Democrats do all of those unapologetically and win. But the GOP will say "but the press will kill us if we do that!". Well look at Trump. He's laughing at their attempts to kill him.

There's a lesson in there that the GOP will certainly refuse to learn, I'm sure of that.

Although, I have felt much joy in watching Trump upset the media and Republican establishment, I wholeheartedly endorse your sentiment.

But I don’t think Cruz has the charisma to break the Republican establishment, and they are as dangerous to the future of this country as the democrats at this moment in history. I say that because the damage is done and the Republican establishment seem to be set on not unraveling the mess we are in.

I think the only difference between a Bush presidency and a Clinton presidency is how quickly we become Greece.

I don’t think Trump is my friend, but he may be America’s hope, I remain deeply conflicted.

Let me extend on that thought by asking “So, if Trump hasn’t had a life in politics, what has he done, and what skills has he developed as a result?” We’re seeing the answer, and Scott Adams analyzes them in detail. Trump is demonstrating a different kind of intelligence than what we’re accustomed to seeing from politicians, it is the kind that built and grew this country - mostly from outside government.

There are different kinds of intelligence, and anyone who really thinks the traditional kind is best should go vote for Jeb or Algore.

I like this one…

And what did you think of Trump’s famous “Rosie O’Donnell” quip at the first debate when asked about his comments on women? The interviewer’s questions were intended to paint Trump forever as a sexist pig. But Trump quickly and cleverly set the “anchor” as Rosie O’Donnell, a name he could be sure was not popular with his core Republican crowd. And then he casually admitted, without hesitation, that he was sure he had said other bad things about other people as well.

Now do you see how the anchor works? If the idea of “Trump insults women” had been allowed to pair in your mind with the nice women you know and love, you would hate Trump. That jerk is insulting my sister, my mother, and my wife! But Trump never let that happen. At the first moment (and you have to admit he thinks fast) he inserted the Rosie O’Donnell anchor and owned the conversation from that point on. Now he’s not the sexist who sometimes insults women; he’s the straight-talker who won’t hesitate to insult someone who has it coming (in his view).

And, look how Rosie has proved him right....since. Her latest *statement* is downright sicko.

Trump appears to be a narcissistic blow-hard

True narcissists are bad news because they leave a wake of damage in their path. Trump appears to be a builder rather than a sabotager of everything like Barky. Is there any evidence of destroyed lives in Trump's past? Even his ex-wives don't hate him.

[[For that matter, college is proven to lower IQs. People often learn all sorts of screwy data in college that damages their ability to think properly, Keynsian economics for instance.]]

What did I miss here. Trump is a college grad.

I agree. I’ve never seen Trump as “an obnoxious, exaggerating braggart.” He’s a showman; the ‘show’ is his life’s business.

Underneath, I suspect that he is actually a pretty humble man. There’s a difference between weakness and humility; it’s possible to know, have confidence in, and use your strengths, while still remembering that you put your pants on one leg at a time like everybody else.

I also don’t think Trump is all ‘calculating’. I think ‘the sale’ is an innate talent with him, and he has stuck with, honed and built upon what he’s good at.

This old Letterman interview is interesting to watch today:

It’s just my personal bug on the wonk culture that assumes that everyone without a degree is unfit for office.

Losing 225 times in a row in courts at every level of the judiciary and in practically every state in the nation will do that to you.
Sooner or later even the Donald Trumps of American politics might come to recognize an issue as a political loser that actually benefits the opposition more than it damages them.
I assume Mr. Trump is tired of being the butt of Obama’s birther jokes.

I call that being astute.

You are right. Scott Walker is the poster
Boy for someone performing quite well without
A degree.

A degree gets your foot in the door. Whether
It is beneficial or not depends on the college
And the degree. Sometimes it’s a detriment on
Many levels. One of them is the false expectations
Recipients have. “Here I am with my degree in an inane
Subject. Where’s my exec. Job?”
