She actually seems to be one whoi is warning the US. In another articles, she says,

Is US – A Small Mouse?

And how does one respond to such actions and words? It is clear that the big bear-aggressor is provoking the world to take action. It sits and waits like a fat cat for an opportunity to attack a small mouse. Isn’t it the time for the US to start playing the role of the fat cat? www.valuewalk.com/2015/04/russia-vs-us-the-world-war-3/

I mean, clearly, Russia is now the only country in the world capable of destroying the US. Completely. And what does the US do? It reduces the number of its nuclear warheads!

Polina Tikhonova “holds a Master’s Degree in English Philology from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the Saint Petersburg State University.”

Nope.

I put a call out in the last couple of days, for Freezers with youtube experience -- I wanted to re-make the Daisy commercial, at Obama's and Kerry's expense. Because, you know, Iran.

Well sure, I don’t disagree with you.

Don’t forget who talks up better race relations all the time. It’s the one’s that continually stir the pot.

We can expect them to exploit this commercial.

I like your idea. Obama and Kerry just handed Iran the bomb.

Written by Polina Tikhonova Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the Saint Petersburg State University. Objectivity is an issue

A quick mouse-over of her name and "search for in Google" gave me this:

She can objectify ME anytime! ;-)

Some malfunction caused radar blips which could have been interpreted as a US launch,...

Yeah, the malfunction was probably a drunk Soviet bureaucrat failing to pass on the international notification from the Norwegians (iirc) about their launching a scientific rocket from a location, on a date, and at an estimated time in order to avoid accidentally triggering a response.

She’s a lefty from Ukraine and clueless on matters of defense. She may well have written some exaggerations or even fiction there.

She has done well with writing about Russian propaganda. She should stay with that.

There were no accidential launches of nukes against our enemies, because there are solid safeguards against doing so. But maybe we should build better nuclear weapons then launch the old ones to get rid of them.

Hardware failure, that time. Next time it will be malware, ironically probably created in Russia.

Here’s a more recent nuke mishap:

The 2007 United States Air Force nuclear weapons incident occurred on 29–30 August 2007. Six AGM-129 ACM cruise missiles, each loaded with a W80-1 variable yield nuclear warhead, were mistakenly loaded onto a United States Air Force (USAF) B-52H heavy bomber at Minot Air Force Base and transported to Barksdale Air Force Base. The nuclear warheads in the missiles were supposed to have been removed before taking the missiles from their storage bunker. The missiles with the nuclear warheads were not reported missing and remained mounted to the aircraft at both Minot and Barksdale for a period of 36 hours. During this period, the warheads were not protected by the various mandatory security precautions for nuclear weapons.[1]

I was on alert at I-01 launch control center when that even occurred. It was cleared up pretty quickly and we weren’t as close to launching anything as the article implies.

It happened again on Friday, July 1 1980 around midnight. I was also on alert at the time and with that one we hardened the launch control facility, documents ready and launch keys inserted. The bombers started moving to the ready line and we spent 20 minutes waiting to see what the next step would be. The command centers spent that 20 minutes identifying, and verifying that there was no launch against the U.S. in progress and then called everything down. The only airplane launched was the Pacific Airborn Command Post which left the ground just before they recalled all aircraft to the alert facilities. Once again, we were not very close to any actual launch, just configured and ready.

Both events gave me a new outlook on life.

You demonstrate exceptional proficiency in powers of investigative research and data gathering. No doubt this information comes to you via the huge databases at the NSA and other clandestine government agencies in which you utilize to gather information about FR for government use against the citizenry. sarcasm />

I got there in 1976. Missile Warning ran on a Philco Ford mainframe, as did Space Track (425L, which we called “Fornicator”, a mispronunciation of “four and a quarter”).

The MEBU (Mission Essential Backup) was run on a Univac 1106. It also ran the graphic screens for Missile Warning.

In 1978 they got several Honeywell 6080 mainframes to replace the Philcos. The Honeywell was the system that screwed up in 1979—however, the whole incident got blown WAY over proportion because the Missile Warning officer in charge, a Full Colonel, did not do proper confidence reporting. He got scared, and went straight to NCA notification. Fylingsdale, DEW, Thule; no one was showing 2,000+ incoming EXCEPT for the mountain.

BTW, I had a lot of good friends who worked in Tech Control. I was in Computer Operations. Had a lot of fun driving up, taking the bus from Pete Field, etc.

I left the Mountain for the first PAVE PAWS site right when that incident happened.
