I see two possibilities. One, Hickenlooper is defending his fellow democrats and misleading the public. Two, the water really isn’t that polluted as Hickenlooper implies, so why was the EPA mucking around with the mine in the first place?

This reminds me of the late 1970s, early 1980s when the Neosho (Grand) river in Oklahoma was polluted with PCBs.
The Oklahoma governor was filmed telling everyone the fish were now safe to eat, and he took a big bite of fried fish.
When the cameras stopped, she spat the fish out claiming it was “too cold”.
Some have wondered if the Gov of Colo-fornia managed to slip in his own bottle of clean water.
