Agreed. They are potential carries of diseases. Some of the disease are pretty serious and might infect people with lowered or compromised immune systems — the very young, very old, etc.

It is a “choice” to not vaccinate and that choice might cause harm to others.

Believing in the rights of parents to make an educated choice for their children rather than being coerced by the gods of medicine is hardly controversial. In fact, it is American.

That is an easy argument to make now that Polio and the like have been contained. In 1965, I would not have wanted my children in school with those who were not vaccinated.

It is fine that you make the educated choice to vaccinate your children. No one faults you for doing what you feel is right for your children. No problem.

However, your logic does not extend to those who make the educated choice NOT to vaccinate. So you do not favor freedom, but rather government coercion to keep these children isolated, even though they have no illnesses. Besides, what does your child have to worry about being "vaccinated"?

Maybe, but I will take a more classical liberal point of view. I am tired of people making decisions and forcing me to go along. I would think you would not have an issue if a private school required vaccinations. The rub here is that we are talking about barring non-vaccinated kids from public schools which seems to be double speak because the government has forcefully monopolized education and most people have little choice but public school. Unfortunately, this is the society we live in, we have given up a lot of liberty for comfort and we now have neither.

I am not troubled by Carly because if more politician spoke the the truth (gov't can tell you what to do if they pay for it) then maybe people will be less willing to surrender their liberty.

One problem that. Government does not have a right to freedom. Government protects freedom. If private schools want set vaccination standards, that is fine. I can choose to spend money on a private school or not. On the other hand, I am forced to pay for public schools under threat of property confiscation, fines and jail time. BTW, I am not against vaccinations, my children have always had their shots. I am against sloppy thinking like Carly's. She should be talking about real issues like getting government out of the education and shuttering the department of education. She is a weak minded feminist, and big government RINO.

15 years ago I’d have agreed. I now know 15 MD’s who either don’t vax the whole schedule or don’t vax the whole schedule AND do delayed shots.

One of whom (former doc my own kids saw) homeschooled his EIGHT children because the 2nd one had a seizure on the table in the peds office while his wife was dressing him post 2nd month shots. The fireworks ensued when the ped nurse tried to tell him (he was in ped residency at the time, he’s a ped specialist) that the ‘baby is just stretching, they do that sometimes after their shots’. No more shots for any of his kids after that. UNsurprisingly the kid who had the seizures got an autism diagnosis.

This former ped specialist (he’s retired) only officially announced WHY he’d homeschooled his kids about 6m ago when the youngest turned 18. He didn’t want to be a target of CPS or a vindictive medical board.

With the massive influx of illegal alien children, these vaccinations should be mandatory. It is a public health issue.

It should be easy to find the decrease in childhood mortality in the mid/late 1950’s due to the polio vaccine. Ditto the mid/late 1960’s due to the measles vaccine. Scroll for the chart in question.

BTW, that polio vaccine you got was loaded with SV-40. Linked with cancer. Any of your childhood friends get lymphoma or other soft tissue cancers since then?
