TRUMP EFFECT: IS ERICK ERICKSON THROWING DOWN GAUNTLET TO RUSH LIMBAUGH?
Breitbart ^ | 8-12-2017 | Edmund Wright

Posted on 08/14/2015 5:39:49 AM PDT by C. Edmund Wright

Did we just see Erick Erickson’s Red State draw a red line in the sand in front of Rush Limbaugh? And if so, is it another aspect of the booming dynamic known as “the Trump effect?”

That very case can be made – as Erickson used Red State’s daily email blast lead story from Dan McLaughlin on Wednesday to fire shots across the bow of all talk radio hosts who are in any way supporting Donald Trump. And while Erickson does not have the by-line on this indictment, it is right in line with his recent dis-invitation of Trump to speak at the recent Red State gathering. (snip)

(snip) gauntlet is thrown down on all talkers with the bombastic warning that “all those in a position of leadership…. cable and talk radio hosts, pundits, columnists, bloggers – (who are) actively encouraging the Trump phenomenon, you are neither a conservative nor a Republican anymore and should not expect anyone to take you seriously again.”

There’s nothing else to add to that, other than to notice that a direct endorsement of Trump was not a requirement here – no – merely the encouragement “of the Trump phenomenon” is in and of itself damning.

And just in case anyone still missed the main point of the article, it closed with the harsh notice that “Donald Trump’s feckless campaign is a millstone…. take it off your necks, or be drowned by it.” The close was dramatically stark on purpose.

Translation: Those talk leaders who now speak well of Trump’s campaign are heading for a major embarrassment down the line….and ole Erick will be there to remind them.

There is *nothing* productive about obsessing about every squiggle in this election process. It’s just too early. That’s my view. We don’t “owe” the electoral process this much angst.

Very well said. . .the potential third rail for Trump is who he would consider for the Supreme Court. Another bad choice there and recovery will be nearly impossible.

I think Trump and Cruz are playing some very smart chess,

Funny - I have it on good authority that Cruz is indeed looking at this as a long term chess match....there was no indication from this source that Trump was in on it though.

“I can’t imagine Trump operating within the restrictions of the office of the President.”

Haven’t we had enough of that the past 6 and a half years?

We've ALL voted for enough 'Republicans' who know the exact right things to say to get elected. Then they go to Washington and don't do a damn thing expect feather their own nest.

If Trump can protect the border, get rid of large portions of illegals, STOP Sanctuary cities for existing, and DO sane treaties with other countries I'll vote for him.

I don't care if he's calls women names. I don't care if he's doesn't know the "in" 'republican PC crap'.

I don't care if Trump doesn't know the formal 'apology style' of DC crooks. DC lowlifes (democrat and republican) have turned 'apologies' into an art form - and they don't mean a damn thing. It's not elegant - it's stupid. That Megyn would buy into that phoniness is shameful.

WE want TRUMP to SECURE THE BORDER. MAKE SANE TRADE DEALS. SHUT DOWN SANCTUARY CITIES. PROTECT VETS. BRING JOBS BACK...

Trump doesn't need to 'say the right things' - that's what Republicans have been doing for years.. then they get to DC and do nothing but live high on the hog on our dime.

Additionally, he’s a bit of a hypocrite given his comment about Judge Souter being a ‘goat f***ing child molester’.

Those kind of things that make me extremely wary of him, they discredit him, and they make me wonder who he really is.

It's no secret why two or three of those four are at the top of every poll and why Jeb is struggling to get into the top four anywhere.

Right, but the party machinery made sure stuff like that doesn't matter. The GOP convention around the time of Romney made a lot of rules changes intended to thwart any challengers to the Elites. The primary process is so Byzantine that it produced McCain -- MCCAIN???!? -- and Romney. I predict that Jeb will, in fact, get the Republican nomination.

Good article on the hypocrisy of Red State/EE. Yup, it’s Bristol Palin, but she does a good job - evidently EE isn’t a fan of her mom.

Erickson, who has a well documented history regarding his comments
about women is a hypocrite for calling out Trump.

Erickson is a fraud for many reasons.

Pure conjecture on my part that they are running a cooperative campaign. To me, there are some strong indications that there’s a good guy, bad guy vibe at work, along with a mutual healthy respect.

In my opinion, Trump understands the media, the entertainment field, and confrontation on a level few people do and is operating on that understanding. Cruz understands debate on a level few candidates do and is operating on that understanding.

Again, I can’t imagine Trump being willing to operate within the restrictions of the Office of the President. There would be too many conflicts of interest.

While EE is no Rush, time might exonerate EE on this point, at least to a degree.
Exonerate? Only in your mind or the mind of someone that thinks Trump was actually guilty of something. Or maybe you meant because "EE" was singing the praises of "Jeb".

Did someone say something about making this personal?

At the end of the day Rush will still be Rush and Trump will still be Trump and "EE" will still be a GOPe douchebag.

And really who, besides you and "EE" gives AF?

I wonder why Rush is so hard up for substitutes that he’d give Erickson his microphone?!

>> Trump, he’s clearly shaking the power structure around and to my mind, that’s a good thing <<

Personal insults, childish incivility and bad manners are good things? As a mom, is that a lesson you want your children to learn from a putative POTUS? The ends justify the means? No thanks.

The GOP convention around the time of Romney made a lot of rules changes intended to thwart any challengers to the Elites.

The 2016 Primary and Various Degrees of Influence…

"Many people who have not followed the construct of the RNC/GOP plan as it originated (November/December 2013 – through the construction in May/June 2014 and end result in April ’15) are fundamentally misunderstanding the origin of the GOPe Roadmap to elect Jeb Bush."

“I wonder why Rush is so hard up for substitutes that he’d give Erickson his microphone?!”

Off topic, but I think he likes to put some of them on as foils to underscore how good he is, when he is on his game. He also has some that are top notch, to keep people tuned in. It is a mix.

I've been saying for a long time, that neither Jeb nor Hillary was going to make it. They're just bad as candidates, and no one really likes them.

I find it incomprehensible, but true, that Jeb may have more chance of making it now than the Hildabeast. He has that proverbial snowball's chance in that extremely hot place, she's already melted.

>> What does Trump have on Rush, I wonder? <<

Maybe they have a mutual pact that if the party of the first part says nothing bad about the party of the second part, then the party of the second part will invite the party of the first part to the second party’s next wedding. And vice-versa.

After all, invitations to those Palm Beach weddings are much coveted — given the entertainment by Elton John, presence of the Clintons, and so forth!

Here's another thought. We, on our side, all thought that the 2010 and 2014 elections were to put Republicans in.

They weren't. They were to STOP OBAMA. The Republicans just happened to be the "Lane Closed" markers we chose. But they didn't do that at all. I think now the anti-DC sentiment is going to make it hard for any insider, including Cruz, to get very far. I don't care how much he was a lone wolf, the average voter is always going to know he was "there" at the time.

Likewise, I don't think the Obama elections were nearly as much about anti-Bush sentiment (there was a lot), but almost entirely about electing a black president out of atonement for racial guilt. I think most people thought they were "Getting that off the table." Of course we knew better, but all the focus on how liberal/radical he was proved irrelevant because that wasn't what voters were focusing on.

Our side better figure that out with Trump. It's irrelevant if he was for an assault-weapons ban in 1805 or whenever. It's about having a mass overhaul of WHO is running DC, not "with what policies."

And really who, besides you and "EE" gives AF?

Trump, Cruz, Carson, and all the ten candidates who showed up at EE's event. How many candidates came to your event? How many websites do you own?

Look you need to grow up and focus on ideas and not on celebrity...this is not about EE, nor about me for sure, but it's about the idea that the Trump Effect is causing some brand new things in the conservative media. I know, an idea totally beyond your grasp because your mind is just Kardashian.
