You dont have to work out really hard.

Proteins and fats keep you satisfied longer and don’t spike your bloodsugar. This keeps inflammation and insulin down, which is what causes damage to arteries. Eating mostly proteins and fats and keeping sugar down will not cause one to get hungry later and eat crap in an attempt to stayfull.

They take a long time to break down and use up. They keep you running on an even keel all day.

Carbs on the other hand do the opposite of everything above. Carbs are why you are hungry an hour or so after you eat. We don’t run well on carbs.

Absolutely right, FRiend! And with ketosis kicking in, the waistline grows slimmer. I'm convinced this is the way that mankind was designed to eat. The HFLC lifestyle is effective.

Tell that to marathoners and others who exert enormous amounts of energy at sustained rates - and also "carb-load" prior to competing. I love meat - especially the kind that used to say "moo", but my body craves carbs and as long as I remain active, I suffer no ill effects and actually have fewer digestive issues when I "balance" by using carbs for about 50% of my calories.

There are all sorts of schools and it should be noted that one can do serious damage to the kidneys w/o enough carb intake. I guess it's a bit like cholesterol and salt - some folks thrive on them (I need and like a ot of salt to remain happy and can eat a lot of "Cholesterol laden" foods w/o problems while others develop/exacerbate health issues. Different systems and physical activities dictate "proper" diets.

You are right, but I had to let go a bit due to hungry kids and a tight budget. Carbs are cheap fillers, though I used potatoes much more than wheat or rice. Perhaps more nutritional bang for the buck with them ?

We desperately need carbs, or, rather, our gut bugs do. But they have to be the right kind of carbs. Sources of resistant starch, like cooked and cooled potatoes and rice, and many tubers... As well as fibrous veggies and fruits. The best gut bugs would rather have cooked broccoli stalks than lettuce salads.

Deny the bugs what they eat and then we suffer psychologically and many other ways. They excrete wonderful things for us that keep us happy and healthy.

If you are eating paleo, you are 9/10 of the way there. Keep your carbs clean and unprocessed and only twice a day.
