Apparently the Washington State constitution says: "providing for public schools is the "paramount" duty of the state."
Er, OK.

Insanity. The Legislature is a co-equal branch. If I were a member I’d introduce a Bill to abolish this idiot club

The legislature should de-fund the court.

If I were the governor, I would just ignore this intrusion into an area where the court has no authority. If they pressed it, I would direct the State Police to lock them up where they won’t bother people. Probably why I am not the governor.

So if the state pays the fine and the state collects the fine, what’s the point?

All those $15 an hour employees in Seattle will be paying more taxes, so no problemo.

And where does the fine go? The general fund, the court, the schools, the “people?” Nonsense. What do you expect from a liberal bastion of insanity?

The (Dem) Governor is all for it because the Republicans have controlled the budget talks.

Be interesting if the legislature went all Andrew Jackson on them...
The court has made their decision, now let them enforce it.
How will the court appropriate funds to pay said fine, and from whence will the funds be sourced?
Would be fun indeed if the legislature voted a proclamation that the legislation passed by the body meets the scope and intent of the constitution, that it is that role of the legislature to write an pass budgets, and that the members of court, if they desire to write legislation may vacate their branches and seek to join the ranks of the assembly.
Won’t happen, but it would be fun all the same.

our governor is the leftist...he welcomes this because now he can force an income tax....
there is no way a court should be able to tell anybody how much money they need to spend.

The Judge is an idiot and will be ignored.
To whom would the legislature pay the money?
And, if they don't appropriate the money, what happens then? (here's a hint: NOTHING).

Liberals have been abusing the court system for years. We either put a stop to it or we never win another important issue ever ever ever.

Can’t have an income tax in Washington. It’s in violation of the state constitution.

I know. The taxes here are getting just as insane as California. And, soon, the schools will be just as awful as those in California. What the Left fails to realize is that we have plenty of money for education, but it is all wasted on programs designed to meet Common Core standards, or pay outrageous salaries to administrators. Then there’s all the money we threw away last year due to changes in the school lunch program...
