Well it's not China invading Taiwan but it is a development in the Trump Vs Fox/Megyn/Ailes story, albeit not well defined.
It's not like forums didn't go crazy when similar things happened to Dan Rather and Brian Williams either. There is so little accountability anywhere I think it is natural for people to get excited over these things.
The story, at least for today, is that you don't leave for vacation immediately midweek for nothing. Do people actually believe this? Does Fox think that leaving it open-ended like that makes any sense? I'm surprised that Fox doesn't leak more info just to tamp down the speculation. It seems to me that they have no real crisis management skills at all. Indeed they are feeding it.
I think the bigger story is that the people, not Trump, but the people themselves are demonstrating power and the fact that a huge major media entity can be moved is real news. Successful pushback is a great motivator, and a nice precedent. It should have repercussions in all the MSM, and if it means more careful behavior all the better.
