Yes, to bark. If a dog is barking incessantly it should wake up the owner of the house who should keep a handgun nearby and a bright flashlight. Remember...this is Texas.

Is there a mosque nearby? More likely, check the local home improvement store's security cameras for residents of the area buying spray paint.

Handgun?Don’t go out the door with anything less than a 12 gauge.

Remember...this is Texas. Not here in the Albuquerque metro area. Dogs barking all night long, all day long, no owner ever shuts them up. We do, if our dog barks. Cuz if she's barking, someone's approaching the house. But she's normally an inside dog.

I can totally believe this. I was spending the Sabbath with an Orthodox family in San Antonio about 10 years ago. They had me park my rental car in the synagogue's parking lot, which was nearby. When I went to retrieve the car after the Sabbath ended Saturday night (I was supposed to drive to NM and hook up with a herper friend to go night cruising for lizards and snakes), I found the entire front windshield had been smashed in, and found a head-sized rock on the front seat that accomplished that. Talk about anti-semitism in San Antonio...my friend had to drive all the way to San Antonio to come get me, after I had to waste good herping time filing a police report.
You won't find me in that town again.

Part of wrapping one’s self in the Second Amendment is having video cameras and alarm systems.

Yup. We are doing that in north Dallas.
Jihadist scum who target Jews here are not going to like the response.

I’m really comfortable with my .45 ACP(10+1), my FenixTK75 flashlight and 130 lbs of canine beasts.

> A Jewish community on the North Side woke to widespread anti-Semitic vandalism Wednesday morning that included spray-painted swastikas, KKK lettering and other hateful slurs.
You know how the KKK likes to make sure the police knows who comitted the crime by “tagging” the scene of the crime.../s
To: familyop
John Hagee’s Cornerstone Church is in San Antonio with well over 20,000 parishioners. He is founder of Christisns United for Israel, too. kKK is possible but I’d look first for any of Obsma’s imported islamonazi terrorist agents. He’s sneakibg them in everywhere, coast to coast.

Obsmas imported islamonazi terrorist agents. Watch for islamofascist males, between the ages of 15 and 40.

Do Jewish families not keep dogs to patrol outside activities at night? Yes, the Yiddish RAT-terrier...very popular in Jewish neighborhoods.

I grew up in TX suburbs. A housedog is okay for a suburb, to serve as a house alarm. One part of good security is avoiding bothering the neighbors. Electronic and/or other alarms, well planned lighting (e.g., dim solar garden lights), cameras and many other security measures are important, like GladesGuru said.
For those who can't afford professional installs, even better systems can be installed by residents willing to study, design and build. One important general thing about security, is that it is never done. There's much more to it than most people have attention spans to conceive.
Ingenuous folks without much money to burn might find the following to be interesting.

Have fun. Enjoy the slide.

Each of mine weighs near that much, but there aren't any other people near here. Next time around, I'll probably get smaller herd dogs.
