“I had a World History teacher in 12th grade that was the best teacher I've ever had. He drank his thermos coffee during every class. About 2/3 coffee and 1/3 Jameson.”

That description reminds me of my 12 grade physics and homeroom teacher. He was a pilot in WWII, and suffered from some hearing loss. During homeroom period, which was usually a noisy, chaotic social gathering, he would unplug his hearing aid and sip from his thermos. We always wondered what he was drinking, and suspected he spiked his coffee with alcohol of some sort. Excellent teacher, though, and supplemented his teacher salary with the income from a string of laundromats.

Interesting. Mine had a night job at Sears as an appliance salesman. He had nine children. His wife graded all the papers! All the tests began with..."Explain in detail, The(fill in the blank)". No true-False! No multiple choice! You either knew the material or you didn't.

He made a big impact on my life, and that of my children. History! Pass it on!
