Second Cornelia Marie captain to die relatively young. Must be a jinxed boat.

What a way, and a place, to go.

That is just too bizarre.

I was just looking for this to be posted. Supposedly died in his sleep but that’s hard to believe at such a young age. Autopsy will be done today so we’ll know more soon unlike the months of cover up on the Waco bikers’ results.

For 1/3rd of all heart attack victims their first symptom is sudden death.

Sleep apnea can contribute to that sort of death too.

Last time I watched, the younger son, Jake was still on drugs. The older son, Josh, couldn’t make it (the Cornelia Marie) work?
That’s too bad, he seemed OK.
Tough lifestyle. Glad to see Jonathan of the Time Bandit quit smoking and scaled back.

Lara was a crabbing catcher who appeared on "Deadliest Catch" to help Josh Harris out as captain of the Cornelia Marie after Capt. Phil Harris died.

Profs to Josh for carrying on the family business/tradition.

...Josh still has a ways to go, just a rookie Capt. -- Wish him well.

So sad to watch Jake Harris crash & burn.

Had my first one at age 45, major damage, only survived because I was still in military and was strong and fit. Was told only about half of men who have heart attacks at an early age survive, mostly because they are asymptomatic and don’t get regular cardiac evaluations.

One doesn’t have to be old either. It happened to my 33 year old son-in-law. Died in his sleep.

Oxymoron?

There were I believe, 5 middle aged men who died at Sturgis, from apparent natural causes. Time will tell of course, but the Black Hills can be extremely hot. There is often not much in the way of humidity. It can pour rain and a hour later everything is dry as dry can be.

People generally do not realize how dehydrated they can become. Most especially if they are guzzling beer in the hot sun.

Altitude, the Hills range in altitude from 2,000 to 4,000 feet and of course there are places that are over 7000 feet high. Rapid City is at 3250 feet and Sturgis is at 3422. Generally not high enough to have altitude sickness, but it can cause problems with physical exertion. Harder to breathe etc.

With the five reported deaths it sounds as if some combination of these factors along with pre-existing heart problems, will likely be the cause of death.

I can’t imagine the amount of drugs going around that rally at any given time.

I lost a good friend that way. Died playing basketball, 43 years old. No warning, worked out regularly, weightlifter. He had sown some wild oats in his youth, done some drugs, including some steroids, which I suspect may have contributed.

I never understood the attraction of this show. You see one, you've seen them all.

True. Despite what many practice, beer guzzling and hot sun don’t mix well.
