The press preens Chelsea Clinton for dynastic succession
Personal Liberty ^ | 8/7/2015 | Kelley Martin

Whether her mother ever becomes president, it’s fair to say that Chelsea Clinton’s exposure to politics is still in its infancy. The mainstream infotainment media is making sure of that.

Vanity Fair blew it out for Chelsea Clinton for its September issue, profiling the former first daughter in a lengthy fluff piece that invites readers to think of America’s political class as a monarchical, hereditary dynasty.

Chelsea is now 35 — yes, old enough to run for president — and the VF piece didn’t mince words in thrusting her into a political position:

Gone is the Chelsea who tried to blend in as just another Stanford-educated grind. She has fully embraced being a Clinton and is now deliberately, willfully, on the road to greatness. She recently admitted that running for office one day is “absolutely” a possibility. Like every aspiring political-office holder, she found time in the busiest possible moment in life (in her case the first year of motherhood) to write a book: It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going! And, most important, two and a half years ago she put her name alongside those of her parents at their foundation, which has raised some $2 billion since its inception and is now called the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

Add to that her “daunting intelligence, her diligence, and her genuine dedication to the job,” and you’ve got the makings of a pitch line for a campaign of some kind.

Whether she ends up staging a presidential run or aspires to an elected office more modest and local — something that might have the trappings, in other words, of making a difference — there’s an air of inevitability surrounding Chelsea Clinton’s eventual political coming out. In part, that owes to her dynastic position.

“Polished, practiced and private, Chelsea Clinton is the closest thing America has to a princess,” wrote The Washington Post’s Jessica Contrera in a piece that’s not entirely flattering. In fact, Contrera observed, Chelsea already appears to have adopted her mother’s strategy of controlling the press:

Her staff denied repeated requests for an interview for this story, saying the best use of Chelsea’s time is discussing the [Clinton] foundation’s work. When interviews are given, they are arranged with the understanding that the reporter will ask Chelsea about her issue of the moment.

Reporters granted time with her could stray, of course, but they rarely do. Everyone seems to have internalized that Chelsea doesn’t have to talk about anything she doesn’t want to. When Elle put her on its cover in May, the fashion magazine’s staffers were warned that if Chelsea was asked about politics or scandals of the past, she would have nothing new to say.

Instead, she is asked the first-daughter questions she has been asked all her life.

Emulating her mother’s style is an interesting predictor of whether — or how — a Chelsea Clinton candidacy might succeed. If America can look past Hillary Clinton’s information-restrictive, substance-free campaign and elevate her to the presidency, there’s no reason to believe it won’t work again and again … as long as there’s a Clinton descendant who’s over the age of 35.

Just saw Megan McCain on Fox and Friends. What in the heck is the point of her contributions? She did a mindless fluff piece on Joel Osteen’s meeting in Dallas area. She likes him because his message is non-judgmental.

Interesting thought on the NY Senator thing.....especially in light of Charles Schumer falling off of the Christmas List.

“The Foundation” would destroy any opposition.

"I wouldn’t say that “preens” is the appropriate word here."

Agreed. Preening is a personal behavior, not something one does to another person.

Sheesh, journalism these days...

They tried that with Caroline Kennedy and she turned out to be awful as a candidate for anything.

They finally got her ‘appointed’ to a political position as her star status sank into the setting sun.

She’s in the ‘Land of the setting sun’ at this time.

What a wonderful choice the fictitious president made for ambassador to Japan. She is about as intelligent as Chelsea Klinton.

It is true that poor little Chelsea didn’t have playmates in Arkancide, Washington, or New Yarkansas.

Bill had the perfect idea to save little Chelsea from crawling into a shell. He tied a pork chop around her neck so that the dog would play with her.

"....Chelsea Clinton is the closest thing America has to a princess,”...

WaPo makes a lot of sickening, disgusting statements about the miscreants they suck up to, but this is a stomach-churning barf fest of a statement!

Clintons=the clan that taught many of us to hate and despise anything connected to the left. (Which incidentally starts at 'Moderate'.)

She has the face that could launch a thousand ships, provided they’re garbage scows that churn up the East River.

The best laid plans of mice & men . . . .
The Clinton Dynasty was planned thusly:
Two terms for Bill: done
Two terms for Puppet Gore: aborted
Two terms for Her Highness Hillary: delayed
For a planned total of 24 years for the CLINTON DYNASTY!

Plan on life support; but still hanging on by a thread!
