I have to wonder if the mom had started up a relationship with her killer again then broke it off. Not victim blaming here but I notice that is often a pattern with these type of murders. The evil sick animals like this killer just will not accept rejection. Too bad she did not truly appreciate what she was dealing with.
The system obviously knew what he was capable of, too bad it failed this woman and her children.

Possibly so, yes. Of course, he may have interpreted her actions according to his own selfish, violent mind set - quite at odds with reality.
It is not victim blaming to look at the background to a crime and consider the various factors. No one but him is to blame.

From what I read elsewhere not at all, this guy was a nut who had a history of threatening her and other women, long criminal history.
Surprising how gun laws didn't stop him from getting a gun, I know we need more gun laws! That'll show them criminals! /sarc
