Earlies memories of NFL included Frank Gifford. Cool, competent, classy.

A truly outstanding broadcaster who was there during the early days of the NFL. He knew when to be silent and let the action on the field speak instead. RIP

The Monday Night Football broadcast crew I knew when I was a kid is gone - Frank Gifford, Dandy Don and Howard Cosell. For that matter, so are Jack Buck and Hank Stram, who I used to listen to half the time when Don wasn’t in the mood to make fun of Howard. Man, time sure does fly. RIP Mr. Gifford.

Growing up in the late 70s/early 80 (before ESPN, cable TV) MNF was an event. With Howard Cossell and Dandy Don Meredith. He was the calming voice among the noise. Seemed like a class act. RIP.

Frank was way before my time, though I LOVE football; any game, any team, anytime, anywhere! Pre-Season, Regular Season, College & Pro.

Just curious: were the removed comments hooker-related and/or Kathy Lee related? And will THIS comment now be removed? ;)

Hey Frank as Dandy Don would say/sing: "Turn out the lights, the party's over"

RIP Frank

I liked him but not his horrid wife. There will be lots of alcohol flowing, more than normal, at the Today Show.
