Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted and his spokesman, Joshua Eck, have already decided that due to the fact Trump “voluntarily participated” in the Republican primary debate in the state of Ohio, he’s already declared himself a Republican in the eyes of Ohio law and “chosen a party for this election cycle.”

Husted is a Republican LINK

Funny because the Code requires certain filings, and does not seem to suggest Husted can just decide to count participation in a debate where Trump refuses to pledge allegiance and will not swear off a third party run.
Maybe Husted thinks he is Obongo.

The law in post 26:

has already filed a declaration of candidacy, a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate, or a nominating petition, or has become a candidate through party nomination at a primary election or by the filling of a vacancy under section 3513.30 or 3513.31 of the Revised Code for:

(1) Any federal, state, or county office,

Doesn’t say anything about participating in a Republican debate as being a reason to deny the candidate. They can’t just make up the law.

I’m glad this is coming out now. Trump needs to find out now what his options are before he “files a declaration of intent” in Ohio for any party.
