I’ll put my bet on obesity and diabetes - hyperglycemia messes up the microvasculature - eyes, kidneys, and the brain.
Ditto - the book “Grain Brain” calls dementia “Type 3 diabetes”.
And also explains why statins are bad for the brain - the author makes a lot of sense.
