N.M. governor bashes EPA for flooding Animas River with orange toxic wastewater

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez blasted the EPA for accidentally flooding the Animas River with toxic orange wastewater, calling on the agency to hold itself to the same standard for the disaster as it would a private entity.

“Imagine what would happen if a private company caused this waste spill,” the Republican governor said in a Friday statement.

“This was caused by the EPA and the EPA should demand the same of itself as it would of a private business responsible for such a spill, particularly when it comes to making information available to the public and state and local officials,” she said.

An EPA team inadvertently unplugged one million gallons of epa-takes-heat-wastewater-spill-colorado-river/” target=”_blank”>wastewater during an assessment project at the inactive Gold King Mine near Silverton, Colorado, sending contaminated orange fluid down Cement Creek and into the Animas River, which crosses into New Mexico.

When the EPA pollutes they don't even bother to inform people who'll be affected. Eliminate the EPA.

The EPA thought it was an illegal stockpile of TANG, so they liberated the tasty tasty TANG for the people!
Afterwards, they discovered that it was actually contaminated, but being perfect progressives they were working on the poster detailing how they liberated the illegal TANG stockpile.

The EPA will just put the cleanup on the taxpayer's credit card. It could be a campaign issue, of course, but this will be item #963 on the list of issues that the GOP could beat the Dems over the head with but won't.

When New Mexico did get the information, it came from the Southern Ute Tribe, not the EPA.

Loser Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat, met with state agencies Friday, said spokeswoman Kathy Green. She said the governor’s office was still gathering facts.

I’m only guessing but I imagine that loser Gov. Hickey is in love with the EPA and everything they do for the enviro-nazis. He probably doesn’t want to talk about this fiasco.
