CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) - Authorities are back to searching for a suspect in connection to a Camp Shelby shooting.
Authorities responded to a call of shots being fired at the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center Tuesday afternoon.
Perry County deputies confirmed the shots were fired around 12:10 p.m. on a group of soldiers training in the area.
Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith said that there were no injuries reported.
Smith held a news conference at 5:45 p.m. They believe there is only one white male involved in the incident, and he could be driving a small maroon colored truck.
A vehicle matching the description of the suspect's truck was found near New Augusta off Old Augusta Road earlier Tuesday afternoon. Two men were questioned by MHP at The Perry County Sheriff's Department. After questioning, the two men were released and not charged.

Police said the suspect allegedly fired from the vehicle at the soldiers and then fled.

I suspect this will end up being a couple of “good old boys” taking a few pot shots at a tin can or sign or rabbit or whatever. Much ado about nothing, most likely.

That’s a very good question. When does the Jade Helm training start? I know Camp Shelby is involved in that training.

Now only searching for one perp. 2 soldiers at the scene of shooting. ATF and FBI notified.
I spent a little time at Camp Shelby. When I was there we lived in SEA huts and it was cold! I had worked there a few weeks earlier and had figured out how the old kerosene heaters worked. I was very popular and got a lot of the good C-rats for fixing the heaters.
