DALLAS A Texas Christian University student has been disciplined after posting online comments seen as racially offensive about current events, including rioting in Baltimore and the rise of the Islamic State, TCU officials said Friday.
TCU said Harry Vincent, a 19-year-old sophomore, violated two Student Code of Conduct provisions concerning infliction of bodily or emotional harm and disorderly conduct.
He has seen his campus access restricted by receiving a one-year suspension from extracurricular activities, on-campus living and the use of non-academic facilities such as the cafeteria and recreational center.
Among the comments are a Facebook post that reads: These hoodrat criminals in Baltimore need to be shipped off and exiled to the sahara desert. Maybe then theyll realize how much we provide for them (welfare, college tuition, obamas phones, medicare, etc.).
The comments were compiled by a childhood acquaintance from his native Maryland, posted on Tumblr with his social media handles and brought to the attention of the school.

Indirect Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Some friend; who needs enemies?
Freedom of speech?
Did the comments mention Texas Christian University by name?
If not, this student should sue the school.
Even if he did mention the school, the student’s right to free speech is being violated.
Punished for free speech.
That was so 1960s. Today you must toe the politically correct line and have all speech preapproved.
Free speech is dead if it's online or recorded in any way. I have no idea why people still use Facebook and similar sites. They make their profits profiling users, and using that information for profit. Besides that, it's there FOREVER.
This is unfair and misguided. However, TCU is a private school and can do what it wants as far as I care. He should get a refund, however, and if not, sue their ass for contractual violations.
Oldplayer
I think TCU alumni, and their money, will side with the student.
The cultural war has escalated to the point where people are becoming frightened to express their political feelings. Liberals are not feeling the same pressure and intimidation. Liberal activists have raised the level of their rhetoric and increased their demands, and they receive sympathy.
Academia dances harder than anyone for the Politically Correct.
Academia has been overrun by fascists to whom “freedom” is an absolutely empty term.
Wiki: “TCU is affiliated with, but not governed by, the Disciples of Christ.”
TRUTH something these commies dont want to hear.
That's the students most provocative statement. I think it is safe to say that, because that is the statement which they picked to quote.
TCU expects its students to behave in a manner consistent with its mission, which is to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in a global community, the university said in a statement.
And that's TCU's official response which makes zero sense. The student merely wrote what the vast majority of Americans feel. What was irresponsible about it? Or unethical?
It makes sense if the codewords in the TCU statement are deciphered correctly: ethical and responsible activity in the global community can only mean one thing in lefty-speak.
