John Boehner Embarrassed: His Whip Team Couldn’t Find Votes to Reelect Him Speaker Last Week
Breitbart ^ | 08/02/2015 | Matthew Boyle

House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) had been planning to call up on the House floor last week a measure from Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) that would have removed him as Speaker of the House if it succeeded—intending to embarrass Meadows—but abandoned the plan after his entire leadership structure learned that they did not have the votes to re-elect him as Speaker before the August recess.

“[House Majority Leader Kevin] McCarthy was making phone calls—he was whipping it—and so was [House Majority Whip] Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA),” a senior conservative movement leader who’s had many personal and direct discussions with various House GOP members about this told Breitbart News in an interview last week.

To be clear, it doesn’t mean Boehner lacks have a majority in the GOP House caucus. It means there are enough votes to deny him the Speakership in a whole House vote without Boehner having to deal for Democrat support.

Likely the eventual Speaker would still be a RINO, but it would not be Boehner.

Well we could have been rid of the pathetic in November. But thanks to lesser evil voting, here we are.

all of his leadership team now knows he’s too weak to get re-elected ... that means that one of them could turn on Boehner

McCarthy. You can bet baby's new shoes on it.

Raw political power understands nothing except a no vote, lack of money, and constant pressure by any means possible. Bonehead is a prime candidate for all of these measures.

Meadows should do it if he knows he doesn’t have the vote. His butt is Boner’s anyway. So make the rinos go on record.

Overdue. It’s been done before. Speaker Uncle Joe Cannon faced a revolt, kept his Speaker title, but forfeited much of his power.

Bohner is an empty suit.

I would guess his suit is filled at about 80 proof.

Well we could have been rid of the pathetic in November. But thanks to lesser evil voting, here we are.

They went silent on Free Republic shortly after McConnell took the reins and started showing his true colors, but have recently began posting again, preening themselves as the "educated" ones with the inside-the-beltway resumes and client-proven resumes who will show us unsophisticated hicks how elections are won. Oh, and it's our fault that Romney lost, don-cha-know...

Boehner must go. The GOP will take a step toward respectability with his replacement, as long as it is someone outside of Boehner’s circle of corruption.

I would like to think there are at least ten who have a spine. That was the bare minimum for God not to destroy Gommorah, It turned out he could not even find that many so he destroyed the city.

Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.” When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home. Genesis 18:32-33.

Good to see your post most honorable Nullness. Somewhere in a void, there is a null waiting to be found.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA),” a senior conservative movement leader

Scalise is propping up Boehner, so he is NOT a "conservative movement leader". He is just a tool for the liberal republican leadership. Liar!

Well one of them is here on this thread screaming for Bhoner’s head after his idiocy helped get Bhoner back into power. And he recently had another of his ilk tell him on a thread all us evil non Romney voters should be shot... “Every. One”.

Must be because Trump is cleaning the GOPe clock in the media.

Exactly right. Trump’s popularity is already starting to pressure the Old Guard to leave. The sooner the better.
