Whenever I post, I consider how my post will affect the reputation of Free Republic.

Remember, an edgy post can be screen-captured by a troll before the mod’s can take it down. Then that post can be used across the Internet to smear this site. I've seen that happen.

I'm not advocating self-censdorship at all. But a post here reflects on more than just the poster.

Just something to think about.

I see your point. I understand the frustration some of us have, and should not be put to print. There is nothing that can or will be done for the lawlessness the leaders of our nation have displayed. The bad part is that the “checks” part of the Balances, are in it together. Mark my words...Nothing will be done. For example: fast and furious, IRS, Bengazi, etc. Lots of meetings and no convictions.

Good point. And not just the reputation, but the quality of the discussions.

Just as bad money drives out good in economic theory, bad commentary drives out good in policy discussions.

Responsible people don’t want to be associated with commentary that goes beyond the pale. If comments like that are allowed to stand, responsible people will leave and you’ll be left with sewage comments.

The Left hasn’t quite figured this out and will allow nearly everything to stand on some sites. The result it a collection of comments not worth reading because responsible liberals (yes, they exist) just bow out rather than be associated with the existing comments.
