If the president wants to use executive powers to aid Iran in contravention of Congress, then Congress should simply declare War on Iran - then anything the president does to help Iran during wartime - even if no troops or other military resources have yet been committed - would clearly be an impeachable act of treason.

For a long time I have believed that this President wants to be IMPEACHED. There is no other explanation for his action and comments. I just don’t know why he is pushing so hard. What does he gain if he is impeached?

He knows if the House impeaches him, the Senate would never remove him, and he would call them racists. We all know the gutless, spineless POS wimps in the GOPe would rather see Iran attack us with nuclear weapons, than be called by the R word.

No one should be surprised by this or anything else this rogue does. He knows there is no way to stop him. Impeachment is basically off the table for reasons cited by earlier posters. Defunding if off the table because Obumble knows the ‘Pubs are afraid of taking the blame (which they will) for any kind of government “shutdown”, which is what Obama and the ‘Rats will do if anything Obangi wants is not funded. And blocking appointments is off the table because the ‘Pubs are afraid of the “obstructionist” labels the media will pin on them, as they've done before. Impeachment, defunding, and blocking appointments are really the only procedural and legislative tools the Congress has to fight the President, and by stifling those Obama knows he has a free hand. Like he told Putin, he has a lot more flexibility, or whatever he called it, after he won his last election. He doesn't have to fear not being elected again, so he is basically unshackled.

This is all true IMO. What consequence does Obama face for breaking the law? He knows no matter how egregious his behavior the Dems will never let him be impeached and removed.

I'm not so sure Obama wants to be impeached, but think about that route anyway. If the House impeached Obama, the Senate would still have to convict him by 2/3 vote to remove him from office. That conviction would never haoppen.

The race-hustlers would just love that scenario! Rich white Republicans impeach the first black President. And Obama can play the picked-on victim. Yet he remains in office because the Senate did not convict.

Just wait till Summer of 2016 - the rioting will ensue, gas prices will go up, food shortages and the Muslim radicals will rise up. The POS will impose maritial law and there is no elections take place. lets just wait and see what will happen. I’m not so sure. For the Iran deal to be voted down by Congress, both the Senate and the House have to vote to override Obama’s inevitable veto. That would take a 2/3 vote of the Senate. Let’s say that happens.

Then any action Obama takes to implement the deal anyway would be in contravention of the action already taken by over 2/3 of the Senate.

I realize it’s still a huge stretch to get those same Democrat Senators to vote to impeach, but this deal is so awful that well over 2/3 might decide that they simply can’t support it, and having decided that, watching Obama go ahead anyway just might be a tipping point.

Where the Republican Congress screwed up (or screwed US) is they gave it a miniscule threshold to be CODIFIED and there3fore extend into future administrations...unless a new law is passed to overturn.

And any new law requires a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
