Trump: Crimea is Europe's problem
CNN ^ | July 31, 2015 | Tom LoBianco

"Let me explain first of all — this is Europe's problem much more than ours, OK?" Trump told CNN during a trip to Scotland.

"And Europe isn't complaining as much as we are. But this is more of a Europe problem," Trump continued. "And when Europe comes to us and says, 'We want your help, we want your help,' but they're not really doing that. They're dealing with Russia, they're taking in the gas, they're taking in the oil — they're not really doing that. And you know, we're making a big deal out of it."

"But why isn't Germany leading this one?" Trump asked. "You know Germany is a very rich, very powerful nation. Why aren't they dealing on it moreso? Everything the United States — we're like the policeman of the world."

Aside from those that want this country to be a TESTING GROUND for Russian nukes, I don’t see too many people having a big problem with Putin cleaning up his ‘backyard’.

Trumps’ advice goes against that of Zbigniew Brzezinski and other influential American foreign policy advisors of the last 30 years.

A couple months back, FR was practically a hotbed of anti-Russia sentiment and plenty of ‘patriotic’ conservatives were all in favor of using the American Military for Vlad’s target practice being led by the greatest military mind since Alexander - Barry Obama.

Ukraine isn't Putin's "backyard" it's a sovereign country and he's the one that caused the mess.

Then as a sovereign country it should take care of it’s own problem and we need to stay out of it.

You may want to look at a map.

No problems. That's what Obama has been doing.

Considering that his State Dept started the whole mess?

No, he CAUSED this. He is FAR FROM staying out of it.

A Reagan and a Thatcher might conclude differently, one highly suspects.

I'm absolutely not a Trump fan. (Fine w me if you are, I just don't happen to trust him. At all.)

As Russia expands power and influence, it affects all the countries on this fine planet, and that includes us and our allies.

You may want to look at a map.

I know where Ukraine is on a map.

And there's a boundary between Ukraine and Russia. You should look for that on a map.

I was saying all the time on this board that it wasn’t our war and we should not get involved in the Ukraine. I got shouted down by the very vocal pro-Ukraine crowd. Bet they weren’t as majority opinion as they made people think.

“and plenty of ‘patriotic’ conservatives were all in favor of using the American Military for Vlad’s target practice”

...and they are the SAME PEOPLE that stood SILENT as our military was GUTTED.

NOW, when we’re at our weakest in nearly 100 years, they want to start WORLD WAR 3. They are some very troubled people.

I’m not too hot on exchanging nukes with Russia, regardless of how strong we are, but one would think they would be willing to wait until we got a bit stronger. Even Reagan understand that he had to limit what we did until he was able to get our military built up enough to be a credible threat.

1. The Ukraine only became a nation unto itself, with the breakup of the Soviet Union. The Ukraine WAS part of Tzarist Russia.

2. It has been common knowledge, as long as someone/anyone in the West knew the name of Putin outside of clandestine circles, that he has been recorded stating his desire to re-unite the former Soviet states.

The last ‘government’ to interdict in military affairs in the Ukraine, and especially the Crimean peninsula was Great Britain, who provided Hollywood and Errol Flynn the storyline of The Charge of the Light Brigade.

This contest of freedom is one that the Ukrainian people have the opportunity to win or lose. Were it a contest between a totalitarian government, a people fighting for their freedom, and with a man in the White House with true American credentials and psyche, then, we might get involved, in any measure.

Well that's your opinion.

However this was going on far before Obama and his state department as anybody who has been following it for the past 15 years knows.
