Zimbabwe to U.S.: Extradite dentist over killing of Cecil the lion

As outrage grows over the killing of Cecil the lion, Zimbabwe has called on the United States to extradite the American dentist who shot the prized big cat.

Zimbabwe has started extradition proceedings and hopes the United States will cooperate, said Oppah Muchinguri, the African nation's environment minister.

Walter Palmer "had a well-orchestrated agenda which would tarnish the image of Zimbabwe and further strain the relationship between Zimbabwe and the USA," Muchinguri said.

Palmer, his professional hunter guide, and the owner of the land where the hunt took place are accused of an illegal hunt under the country's Parks and Wildlife Act, Muchinguri said in a statement on the country's parks and wildlife website.

Specifically, Palmer is accused of financing an illegal hunt, and he and the professional hunter are also accused of illegally using a crossbow "to conceal the illegal hunt" so they wouldn't alert rangers on patrol, she said.

This dentist has no hope. Obama would sell him out faster than the four hostages in Iran.

It would effectively be a death sentence.

F Zimbabwe. If their government officials and countrymen weren’t so corrupt this never would have happened. Idiots.

All this over a lion???

All this over alleged violations of hunting and game regulations of Zimbabwe?

I shudder to think about what a Zimbabwe jail looks like.

Extradition for crimes against a human being is one thing. But extradition for alleged crimes against an animal??? I guess the PETA people and liberals and Hollywood celebrities and Jimmy Kimmel’s tearful pleas are just lost on me in this case.

Yes, all this concern over an animal’s supposed rights. What’s their record on human rights?

If it was UK, a country that we have an extradition treaty with, then okay, let’s abide with that. But Zimbabwe? A freaking African hell hole. Obama doesn’t care because he views Zimbabwe law equal as ours. He believes in a post-American world, where our values and our way of life is no longer superior over the Third World.

Al Jazeera calls Zimbabwean prisons “Death Camps” if that’s any indication.

Poor bastard.
He killed an old, large predator cat.
He garners more outrage than those that kill humans, made in the image of God.

Maybe he could become Mugabe’s personal dentist and hunt for his dinner on the side.

I agree. Once again, animals have rights, but fetuses or the recently born have none.

There are no words to express the outrage at these cultists.

This is the same Zimbabwe whose foreign minister did not know about this a day or two ago?

The liberals, sanctimonious media types, Hollywood idiots, etc. have decided that this is the hottest issue in the world. This is their latest cause celebre.

People who five days ago had never heard of Cecil the lion, and some of whom don’t even know where Zimbabwe is, are now all of a sudden shocked and outraged. To them, the hottest issue in the world is not ISIS or Iran nuclear deals or violence in our cities. The hottest issue is violations of Zimbabwean game and hunting regulations. The hottest issue is that we need to make a martyr out of an elderly lion killed by a hunter on a hunting trip.

Not to mention that St. Cecil, at 13 had already exceeded the average lifespan of a male lion in the wild. Catching an arrow is far more humane than being eaten by a younger rival.
