Don’t Worry, TrumpMania Will Fade Away
PJ Media ^ | 07-31-2015 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 07/31/2015 9:25:46 AM PDT by Michael van der Galien

Like Jonathan S. Tobin at Commentary, I have little doubt that TrumpMania will soon fade away. There has always been a willingness among a part of the electorate to get behind an angry outsider, but when push comes to shove, even those voters opt for a candidate they can trust. Trump simply isn’t that guy. Tobin’s third argument, which I consider to be the most important one, is as follows:

"Third, the assumption on the part of some that a public that has been watching Trump on TV for years already knows all it cares to learn about the man is equally unfounded. I doubt that most of those on the right applauding his outrageous act are aware of Trump’s long history of backing for liberal causes and even his financial support for Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaigns and their family charity that operates as a political slush fund for the former first couple."

Another good argument:

"Fourth, as I noted last week, the basic culture of American democracy is something that is designed to trip up demagogues. This wouldn’t be the first case of populism run amuck in American history and there are some obvious examples of outlier figures having a major impact on the outcome of elections."

t’s very simple. When it boils down to it, Trump is not actually conservative. He has, all throughout his life, supported Democrats. Two of the most important recipients of his support (financial and otherwise) are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. There’s no chance in hell that the conservative base will let him get away with that. Of course there are some who argue that Ronald Reagan “was originally a Democrat as well,” but that comparison doesn’t hold. Reagan broke quite visibly with the Democrats and attacked them ruthlessly.

You post it, but it’s not right, Not even close.

Trump has an excellent economic plan. He is the only one that has correctly diagnosed our economy.

The other candidates all want to do more of the same thing that got us here.

PS. Your candidate is now at 1.7%. Watching him lose almost all his support while Trump racks it up, has got to hurt.

LOL...

If you believe Trump has the best economic policy and that Cruz is really at 1.7, you really are dumber than I thought...

Sad, really...I expected you to have some common sense.

"Cruz will out debate Carly"

Well Carly as 2% and Cruz has 2.2% on the reuters poll.

If you're right Cruz could get up to 3% by out-debating Carly. Unless of course Trump takes even more support from both of them.

LOL...

Wow, you really have no clue do you.

The recent polling had Cruz at 4% at least...and you think he is this low?

LMAO. Hey, I have a house in the middle of the Pacific...you want to buy it?

Well there are multiple polls showing Cruz at less than 10%. I’ll grant you that the pollsters are liberal and are probably going to be more biased against Cruz than most of the other candidates.

But I just don’t see Cruz being that liked. I don’t see him winning the nomination much less the presidency.

And then you take Cruz’s mistakes on trade policy and the Ex-Im bank and I don’t want Cruz as President. He can stay in the Senate where he’s a good cross-examiner. But Cruz isn’t “yet” Presidential material.

LOL...

And Trump is? I mean, given his flip-flopping on all of the issues he now claims to support. Yep, Presidential alright.

Cruz at less than 10% is one thing...but to cite a poll as fact that has him at 1.7? Even you must admit this is bogus.

And, since you are devoid of logic, I will help you with the internals...ONLY 459 people voted, supposedly Republican. Margin of error at 6%. Not exactly a reliable poll. Don’t you think?

trump 30% + carson 7% = 37% of those polled want nothing to do with a politician

37% is a more than significant number based in that context

there is a hunger for a real man that is neither lawyer nor politician to run things next time around

How many Trump supporters have you been able to win over for Cruz by calling them all “dumb” on Freerepublic all day every day for weeks now?

Does Cruz know how helpful you have been?

Maybe, maybe not.

I am beginning to think of it like this:

The general public is engaged because of Trump’s presence....and they have seen Trump for DECADES now.

And suddenly the media and political elites want them to believe Trump is a bigoted racist hate monger. They aren’t buying it.

IIRC, watching the show as a kid, the libs writing it were annoyed at first that Archie was so likeable. Initially his character was a phenom like Bart Simpson, Mork, and other supernovae of the TV firmament.

And his viewpoints were mainstream and his takes on things were hilarious.

So that pissed off the lib writers, and so Archie's character became nastier and more bigoted, more than almost anyone in real life could be.

They went on and wrote a bunch of progressively darker, more depressing episodes to 'get control of the situation" and make sure people ended up hating him as a recalcitrant redneck. At the end the show was a bummer to watch.

Anything and everything must be sacrificed for the Revolution. Even a sitcom that was passably funny.

Did I call you dumb?

BTW, I guess you are right...if I don’t support the closet Democrat like you, I guess I am not helping the Conservative cause. Guess you will vote Jeb then.

Michael Steele to Joan Walsh: Your Condescending Attitude Is Why Trump’s Popular

You, buy calling others dumb, are doing the same thing. I like Cruz, but right now I think Trump is the better person for what we are facing. So maybe I should say thank you, for helping to drive more and more to Trump.

Thank you, keep it up. Your condescending attitude is helping Trump. The polls keep showing it. Just like the gope, you guys cannot help yourself. You honestly think you are good at political strategy, but the more you talk and are rude to people, the higher DT poll numbers go. LOL

One more thing, where did i say I was driven to DT by you or anyone else? I said that although I have been a huge Cruz supporter, I think DT is the right person for the job right now. Stop lying.
