Mitt Romney defends Obama while attacking Ted Cruz
The Strident Conservative ^ | July 31, 2015 | David Leach

Posted on 07/31/2015 9:08:23 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

On Tuesday, Senator and presidential candidate Ted Cruz (R-TX) had this to say about Obama’s deal with Iran:

“If this deal is consummated, it will make the Obama administration the world’s leading financier of radical Islamic terrorism. Billions of dollars under the control of this administration will flow into the hands of jihadists who will use that money to murder Americans, to murder Israelis, to murder Europeans.”

Not much to argue about, right? So you’d think a “severe conservative” like Mitt Romney would support Cruz for taking a strong conservative stand against the nuclear ambitions of a terrorist nation.

Well… while the former Republican presidential candidate says he’s opposed to the Iran deal, he is attacking the current presidential candidate for his criticism of the agreement.

I am opposed to the Iran deal, but @SenTedCruz is way over the line on the Obama terrorism charge. Hurts the cause.

— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) July 30, 2015

Maybe Mittens should spend a few of his millions to buy a clue.

In a recent CNN interview, National Security Adviser Susan Rice admitted the Obama deal will give Iran access to up to $150 billion to spend as it wishes and would do nothing to stop the Islamic Republic from sending windfalls to its terrorist comrades in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and throughout the Middle East, North Africa and perhaps even the Americas.

Of course, attacking Conservatives is nothing new for Romney as we witnessed during the 2014 mid-term elections when he campaigned extensively against T.E.A. Party and other conservative Republicans. He also expressed support for fellow Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame member Chris Christie for president, saying that the New Jersey governor could “save our party” because of his ability to reach across the aisle and act like—I’m sorry, work with—the Democrats.

Romney, just like McCain before him, continues to prove that there’s a difference between saying you’re a Conservative and actually being one. As for his criticism of Cruz is concerned, Ted should consider that an endorsement.

By the way, Ted has already responded to Romney’s comments, saying that it proves why he “got clobbered” by Obama in 2012.

Well said, Mr. Cruz. Well said.

I know I’ve said this before “To most Republicans “Conservative” is nothing more than an obligatory campaign slogan.” Senator Cruz is an exception, in many ways to most Republicans and he knows exactly what Conservative means.

You maintain that he was the better choice when he has a mirror record and has done nothing but destroy everyone/everything he touches remotely traditional or conservative.

And lets not forget his baby parts business connections. Which alone proves how unfit he was to lead America.

The lie Bert is that you are a conservative and it’s your own lie. You are a Romneybot with a post history anyone can read for them self. It is laughable to deny it when practically every interaction we ever had centers on you defending the POS.

only won one election and that was for governor of Mass. in 2002.

Whereupon he saddled the state with the useless and astronomically expensive Romneycare.

Which was later used by the commiecrats as a model to help create the monster now known as obamacare (I prefer the term Zippycare.)

FOAD mittens-you're worse than useless!

So Ted Cruz remains stuck at 4% or 5% in the polls and even risks not making the cut off into the top tier. In Ted Cruz we have a true conservative fighting the fight every day on our behalf in Congress sticking his neck out, deploying his considerable talents to expose the left, today it is Kerry yesterday it was McConnell, while Trump struts from event to event making less and less coherent sense, lurching from one ideological position to another but drawing mindless praise from conservatives who should know better.

Well said.

It is easy to lose hope but I have been reading Ted Cruz’s book and he faced much longer odds than now to defeat Dewhurst in the Texas senate election.

Keep in mind that Cruz’s support is much broader than it seems from the polls. He raised by far more money from small contributions than Bush or any other candidate and people like me who put their money are going to get out and work for him too.

Speaking of which, whenever I start to despair I go to
https://www.tedcruz.org/donate
and send him some more bucks.
