heard on the earth radio news yesterday that there are calls for an international ban to game hunting over in Africa.

So these busy bodies want to tell independent African nations what they can do and not do with their own wildlife in their own country? I doubt that any African nation would go along with that, especially those that get a large part of their income from the very expensive fees and licenses they get from hunters.
