Is Ben still upset because Trump said he couldn’t afford to buy a pair of Pants?

Has anyone here or anywhere else ever said that Trump was a True Blue Conservative? I must have missed it.

In this Race, Cruz is the only True Blue Conservative and he is getting nailed for some of his positions.

This is a long road, and I hope Cruz gets some Traction, the sooner, the better.

I actually agree with a lot of that...but my point is, his knee pad fan boys are convinced he is this full throated deportation hawk. And that's bullsh-t. My point is Trump reality versus Trump in the minds of the wayward Freeper.

But it may well be that Trump is the only one who can take down both Jeb AND Hillary -- both equally evil. I was for Ted Cruz the past 2 years. But I now doubt he can do both. I think he could crush Hillary, but the GOPe knows how to defeat him, and would. They have no freaking idea how to defeat Donald Trump, and unless he defeats himself (I estimate at least a 70% probability), they cannot.

Problem is not legal immigrants. I am a legal immigrant and over the last 55 years since arriving here, I have made acquaintance with 10,000 immigrants or more. I was president of India Association of Chicago.

I know personally many legal immigrants who were sponsored by a relative who is US citizen, many of these immigrants over 65 are parents of US citizens. All these seniors get social security checks and medicaid, even when they have never contributed one red cent to social security. It does not even matter that their sponsors are wealthy.

Immigrants who come here who are highly skilled, such as scientists and doctors and chemical engineers perform productive tasks and are actually helping the US economy. Silicon valley is full of businesses started by immigrants. To reduce those type of immigrants is a fool’s game who do not understand how economy grows.

So, we need to reduce legal immigrants coming here as relatives and have low skills or are seniors.

New Zealand has a smart immigration policy. You can immigrate to NZ if you have skills required in NZ, or bring $1.5 million US cash with you. If you are a senior, you must bring $10 million US cash with you. Because they understand seniors will not work and produce anything and will be a burden on their healthcare system.

lol anything beats not deporting ANY illegals. Common..you are more savvy than that! When no one is deported, they ALL become legal eventually. And they all can apply for citizenship when the right president comes to power.

Has anyone, including Obama, said no more deportations? Deportation goes on daily in this country. Obama has drastically reduced the numbers, but even he can't ignore the law.

As it turns out, the administration's claims of record deportations are "a little deceptive," as the president once told a group of Latino journalists. A little! Internal documents made public as part of a lawsuit by ICE officers against their own agency confirm that ICE has been padding its deportation numbers by taking credit for removing tens of thousands of illegal border crossers who were arrested by Border Patrol. They were held in ICE detention centers for just a few hours before removal. These cases represented about half of all deportations in the "record" counts of the last two years.

This is how the administration has been able to cover up plummeting interior arrests and give the false impression that they are vigorously enforcing immigration laws. In 2013, ICE agents encountered more than 700,000 aliens who could have been removed (which is a record, thanks to new resources from Congress). Most were found in jails. But they took action against fewer than 200,000; meaning that ICE is now releasing more illegal aliens — including criminal aliens — than it is arresting.

The proponents of amnesty are wont to create the false choice between a blanket amnesty and mass deportation of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. In reality, we have other choices and alternatives that don’t reward people who have broken our laws with the right to stay and work here and an eventual path to citizenship. The 12 to 20 million illegal aliens did not enter this country overnight and they will not leave overnight. Attrition through enforcement works. We have empirical data from Georgia, Oklahoma, and Arizona proving that it does.

Allowing those who have long records of many years of productive work, is better than deporting ZERO illegals, any day in my book of common sense.

Many of these lawbreakers who "have long records of many years of productive work" have committed multiple crimes including working illegally, ID theft, stealing SSNs, tax evasion, lying on employment forms, etc. Are these the kinds of people we want to reward with being able to stay and work here? Is it fair to the 4 million intending immigrants who have been waiting overseas to enter legally, many for years? They have completed all the paperwork and background investigations and physicals. Putting the lawbreakers at the head of the line sends the wrong kind of of message. When you reward something you get more of it.

There is no such choice of ZERO deportations unless you want to change the law and stop all deportations. Then we will be overwhelmed.

Not my take on Trump at all. He has been on point on securing the border and deportation, and still is.

Deportation of whom? Criminal aliens yes. He will have to be more specific how he intends to round up the estimated two million criminal aliens and deport them. However, he is also talking about letting the "good ones" stay and work here. That is amnesty. And now he is adding the Dreamers.

40% of the lawbreakers came here legally and overstayed their visas/ Trump has yet to say how he will deal with them. Or with employers who hire illegals.

Your assertions of him now just doesn’t jive with the facts imo

I can only go on what he has said.

Appreciate your detailed knowledge on issues.

My best anology for the illegals problem is this:

If your boat is taking on water, first you must plug the hole. Only after the hole is sealed tight, you can begin paling water out.

If southern border is not sealed tight, all talk of arresting and deporting illegals is premature.

None of the professional politicians will build the wall.
I am excluding Santorum since he has no chance in 2016. I have to believe Trump will try very hard to build the wall.

Trump’s agenda on illegals is far superior than Bush, Walker, and the rest of them making the first debate on Fox.

They did the same thing in Canada where I;m from. For the past 4 years, the quota number per year decreased and they literally make it harder to immigrate there. The point system makes it so and filters you thru the system making sure you don’t become a welfare hindrance.

I think tourist VISAs to USA are too difficult to get. I think they should be easier to obtain. But before that happens we need to enforce the laws already in the books, be assured that everybody can be tracked so that we know they do not overstay their VISA and if they do we need to do what Mexico does, throw them in jail before deportation and never allow them to get another VISA.

I also support increased guest worker VISAs when the national unemployment rate falls below 3% but the wages need to match that which would be received by an American citizen in the same position/company (so that company does not try to reject American workers in order to pay the foreign worker less money.

US VISAs are very difficult to get even now under Obama. It’s much easier to sneak over the border.

What do we do with those already here? Fine companies caught employing illegal immigrants and immediately jail then deport any illegal caught in this country without the chance of ever getting another VISA to come back.

If there is any type of amnesty I would support it would be a bit similar to what I heard Trump describe and that is, someone outstanding who has proven himself to be a good “resident” who has never collected government welfare and had paid income taxes on earnings made while here illegally. And the amnesty would be to leave now, apply for a work VISA (but not expedited as Trump described). Get in the back of the line behind those in your home country who decided to apply for a VISA the right way, the legal way.

This is all too simple. Enforce the laws, fine employers to encourage self deportation, deport any others caught staying here illegally and anybody caught committing fraud such as using fake IDs or SSN will go to prison for as long as an American citizen would go for such a fraud. It’s very simple. The most difficult part of it all would be the process of tracking.

The laws are in the books. Enforce them.

We have to bring great people into this country, okay? And I want to bring — I love the idea of immigration, but it’s got to be legal immigration

That's not mushy. That's the way we've always been.

Anyone who thinks Trump has gone "mushy and incoherent" over illegal invasion has gone a bit mushy and incoherent themselves.

He's not my choice as I am donating to Cruz, but it's sad to see our side working hand-in-hand with the Left/RNC/GOPe and other commies by using false memes to attack him and disregarding the Truth of what he has brought to this campaign cycle.

Now I do not agree with all of that above, but you have made a reasonable intellectual case and I respect that. If all Trump supporters were like you, I wouldn't have a problem. And FTR, if he wins the nomination, I'm going to support him.

The truth is, immigration is a very difficult issue to solve.

About the only way I'd give up the leased Guantanamo facility to Fidel would be for Cuba to accept all the US' illegals, and prohibit their "migration" back.

(Cuba is a big island, stretching the equivalent distance from New York to Chicago).

Trump has been mushy and incoherent his entire life......it takes a pure PT Barnum sucker to willfully remain ignorant of this. Whether or not you think he’s being mushy here - his entire adult life has been ideologically mushy and quite often way to the left of the RINOs you hate (and yes, they are despicable, which makes Trumps leftist history even more troublesome.)

That’s not where many of his supporters are though....which was the ONLY POINT I was making. I’ve been totally flamed for saying some of the very same things Trump said...by the very same people who are all in the Trumpaholic kool aid now.

THATS THE POINT.

I don’t know if Ben is upset. Ben is not the point. Trump has been ideologically incoherent longer than Ben has been alive. Trump has flip flopped more than Mitt Romney ever dreamed about.

If he’s flopped to the right, that’s good - I’m all for it - but pardon me if I’m not convinced after 25 minutes.
