June marked the first month of mandatory cutbacks during California's drought

California water use dropped by 27 percent in June, the first month of mandatory cutbacks during the drought.

The announcement from state regulators comes after the state's largest cities already announced they met or exceeded mandatory conservation targets provided by the state. Data released by the State Water Resources Control Board shows 265 of the 411 local agencies in the state hit or nearly reached the savings targets implemented after Gov. Jerry Brown ordered an overall 25 percent savings.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the state's largest agency serving 4 million people, said it met its 16 percent savings target. Utilities serving San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco said savings far exceeded the goals from the state.

A dried up California is symbolic of their Congressional delegation.

Doesn’t sound like any plans there to build new reservoirs or push back on the wacko environmentalists.

Hopefully the drought will be over this year and the rains and snowpack will come this fall. The urgency to do something will be gone then.

Long term when the next drought arrives; nothing will have changed.

“California Water Use Falls By 27 Percent in June”

I don’t think they are counting agriculture use in this article.

Ag water is 80% of the total use in CA.

I hope they get abundant rain and kali turns into a lush paradise once again. Beautiful weather and beautiful people.

Then maybe these stinking kalifornians that have invaded my state will go back there!

WOW! Imagine if you will a California with a 90% reduction in “trespasser” (illegal aliens to some) how much less water usage there would be. But that’s water under the bridge. Or not.

California has only two seasons, fire and mud. The fire season has lasted a long time so look for the coming rains to wash half of Malibu into the ocean.

You are way off with 80%!

50% of the water we COLLECT in MAN MADE reservoirs,canals,rivers,streams,.... is Diverted in to the ocean to save the non native species fish, the Delta Smelt and 500 COHO Salmon.

40% of the water we collect and store is used for Agriculture
10% is used By ALL HUMAN BEINGS in the State, of that 10%, 30% is used outdoors.

So how much did we save from the total?? about 2 1/2% of the TOTAL AMOUNT OF WATER we Collect, clearly within the margin of error on any given day.

ps the 80% figure is derived by NOT COUNTING the first 50% WASTED down the drain!

Delta Smelt is the most worthless fish in the world. Not even good for bait, most game fish will not hit it.

This means their water bills will necessarily have to increase.

Obviously you have a tough time making change for a dollar
I’ll make it easy on you ok, grab a Dollar in change, 2 quarters, 4 dimes 1 nickel, and 5 pennies

50% is USED for the Delta Smelt (2 quarters)
40% is USED for Agriculture (4 Dimes)
10% is USED for Humans ( 1 Nickel and 5 pennies)

a 25% reduction by Humans equals a TOTAL of 2 1/2% SAVED.
which means you saved 2 1/2 pennies out of your dollar! got it?

Well, climate-wise living in CA sure beats living in your state of Tennessee where it never seems to stop raining. Spent a couple of weeks there one Fall. It poured every single day. Ugh.

In my neighborhood I’ve actually noticed a whole lot less lawn watering. It’s almost completely stopped.
