re: black and white, force the law period.

That is precisely the wrong way to think, both morally and pragmatically.

Entering the US without playing mother-may-I is equivalent to jay-walking, which is illegal but most everyone does it. And most of us have no guilty conscience when we jay-walk. We do not see it as evil.

Drunk driving or Driving a get-away car could be compared to jay-walking ... and to entering the US without permission.

The police should be focusing on Drunk drivers, both morally and pragmatically. A focus on jay-walkers is neither the high moral ground, nor the pragmatic.

Let’s face it. Some laws are stupid. That doesn’t mean repeal all immigration laws. But it does mean that they should be changed to be both more moral, and more pragmatic.

Currently the immigration laws are neither moral nor pragmatic. And, of course, the executive branch creating law and bypassing congress is also immoral, not to mention illegal.

Disagree entirely. Enforcing immigration laws as written was done at one time, and the laws worked just fine.

At some point those in charge for their own selfish reasons decided not to continue enforcing it. At the expense of the American people. There's your immorality.
