The University of Cincinnati is reportedly closed down this afternoon as police officers prepare for potential riots over the death of an unarmed man who was killed by university cops during a traffic stop last week.

Samuel Dubose, 43, who is black, was shot and killed by white UC Officer Ray Tensing after Tensing reported that he was “dragged” by Dubose’s vehicle and “had to fire.” The shooting, called “not good” by Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell, was captured on Tensing’s body camera and is set to be released today:

I saw the video he has his interpretation, you have yours. Nothing criminal.

Another officer and the shooter officer stated the suspect vehicle was *dragging* the officer who then had to fire a single shot into the suspects brain.

That’s not what happened. Fact is the officer was standing when the suspect was shot to death.

He shot the guy in the head, with no legal justification for the use of deadly force. That is not just a civil matter, it’s a crime.

Even if he was going to drive off, how does that justify the use of deadly force? The officer was not in front of the vehicle, so the guy wasn’t about to run him over - so, where is the imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury?

The camera was shaking so much I can’t tell. I can tell that the car engine was on and in gear, because it took off after the driver was shot.

A good defense attorney has a lot to work with.

Stupid dumb drunk bastard couldn’t follow directions could he. Had to go joy riding in a broke dick car with no license plate. Maybe Darwinism is acting here. I am losing patience with the stupid class( a class which has all colors ). Now he is dead and a young cop lost his career and may face charges.

If he's driving off, he did something. He could take out a bunch of people with his car. Granted, he could've taken out a bunch of people driving dead too. The cop obviously had good instincts and knew something was up.

I don't know procedure, are they allowed to just drive off? I know if they draw their weapon they plan on using it, and if they use it they shoot to kill.

The young cop has lost his career and will (not “may”) face charges not because the victim was an idiot—he was—but because of how the officer responded. Namely, by shooting him in the head without any legal justification for doing so.

Officers deal with uncooperative idiots every day. It’s part of the job. Shooting them without justification is not, and is criminal.

So, why is he sitting in the can tonight?

We both know the answer to that.

Too bad he just wasn’t truthful and didn’t say, “The GD gun went off in the excitement and I did not intentionally mean to pull the trigger and shoot the suspect.”

I would have bought that in a second. Shit happens, mistakes happen. Everyone knows that.

His career would have been done, but his life wouldn’t have been wasted away in some violent prison camp.

“If he’s driving off, he did something.”

If so it doesn’t warrant a death sentence on the spot of the infraction.

The cop had good instincts? Wow. I’m speechless.

The cop was dealing with an uncooperative motorist, who, when asked to step out of the car, proceeded to put turn the ignition and put the car in drive. The cop’s “instinct” at that moment was to reach into the vehicle (he did not reach into the car until after it was turned on), putting himself in danger in the event the guy decided to drive off. Then, less than a second later, he shot the guy in the head, causing the guy’s now-dead body to slump forward and the car to accelerate.

Those are some fine instincts there, officer.

I meant he had good instincts to pull him over. So if this guy just murdered someone and decided to drive away, the cop should just let him?

You said that, I didn’t, just remember that. So, I’ll ask you.......he had turned the ignition, put the car in drive and was fleeing......WHY?

To appease the masses.

You think the officer did this in order to appease someone?

And, if you mean that other people put the officer in the can to appease the masses, you still haven't explained why this outcome escaped his superior instincts.

No matter how you look at it, he screwed up somewhere. He doesn't seem to be winning, as Charlie Sheen once put it.
