Without a doubt, Donald Trump has done the conservative base some tremendous favors recently. He instinctively understands the mood of the country on key issues and is tapping into the anger at all of Washington -- all Democrats, the Jurassic media, the Republican establishment politicians, consultants, lobbyists, and donors, and of course the conservative establishment media as only Donald Trump can do. He is demonstrating that his instincts are superior to most politicians, and he certainly has all the right enemies at the moment.
As a direct result, his poll numbers are surging. There is correlation here.
This is very refreshing. Moreover, it's extremely important. This blunt tone and accompanying fearlessness are exactly what these times call for. It should be a teachable moment to all who are seeking the nomination, although it seems only Ted Cruz and Carly Fiorina - who are both predisposed to being blunt - are enjoying it.

Trump is neither a Constitutional Conservative, nor a free market capitalist.
For all the good he espouses, he is still no Milton Friedman.
“Understand that blaming Bush meant by association blaming conservatism, free enterprise, and all Republicans.”
What? Bush was no conservative. At the end Bush bailed out the car companies and let the bankers have their way. That’s not free enterprise, that’s commie crony “capitalism”
Of course Bush is a star compared to the satanic commie we have now, but Bush certainly deserves his share of blame with his big government policies.
The default is the DNC. No thanks. On any issue our worst RINO is miles ahead of the best Dem.
So, in other words, you don't want me to be balanced and honest about what I like, and what I don't like?....because it's too difficult for you to follow? Fine, don't read my stuff. It's all balanced and logical and pretty complex sometimes...because life can be that way.
Yes, it was liberal, do-goodism policies that crashed the economy in Bush’s eighth year in office, but you can’t let him off the hook after almost eight years as president! Yeah, he weakly, in his first term, made some comment about the quality of mortgages being guaranteed. But he also trumpeted, pushed and furthered the executive policies pressing the industry to lower loan standards, diversify recipients, and boost beyond reason the percentage of home-owning homes in the country. He also went for the big bailouts and all of the chicken-little panic that ushered Obama into victory that fall.
Bush was a big-government spender and ultimately worse on the economy than Bill Clinton.
Those issues don't fit neatly into the old liberal/conservative categories, and if Trump can presents those issues consitently and add some detail to his talking points, that's what's a large number of voters will respond to.
Those lesser arguments will not Trump the critical issues that are in the thoughts of many fed-up voters.
Not necessarily. Bush-type Republicans slip stealth liberals onto the courts. And even a GOP Congress will roll over for a big-spending GOP president more so than a big-spending Democrat president.
Yes. But NOT with the economy. The "crash" was due to the LEFT's manipulation of the mortgage marketplace. Bush, and a GOP Congress, tried to reform FNMA before the crash ... IN 2004!!!
Now you have moved from Trump bleeding the Republicans
to I don’t see him fixing Washington corruption
Pretty sure you are up to the task. :)
But your Donald gave the Democrats a TOTAL FREE PASS on the crash. A TOTAL FREE PASS to Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Janet Reno, Fannie, Freddie....
A TOTAL DAMNED pass. Now please try and defend that! Go ahead, TRY. I can’t WAIT!!!!!
Please watch the video posted at #28. The Dem/Clinton policies forcing banks to make horrible housing loans is what created the bubble that finally burst. Bush tried to reform this in 2004 and was rebuffed by Barney Frank.
Certainly, Bush has his faults, but this is not one of them. Trump should know this.
So now is the time to support Yeb? Is that what you are saying? Which one of the GOP pussies should we line up behind so we can please all of our enemies?
Like a fool, I voted Romney last time because he was DNC-lite. Won’t do it again.
Trump has tapped into a VERY large pool of frustration with everything DC. DC pundits, DC establishment, GOPe assholes. F-— them all. Go Trump.
Well you may be right....So in case those crap givers are reading: I said specifically that if you're going to attack Walker, or Bush, or ANY Republican, do it from the right. I said there was more room there with Bush....again, the key here is Donald, not really Walker or Bush. Truth is, over all, Walker is far more conservative than Trump. Cruz even more so. Paul, Carson too. Carly too. But shhhh....
Someone is a little full of themselves.
Not a Donald fan at all, but I sure am enjoying the way he dishes back with extreme prejudice what is tossed at him.
No, if I were full of myself, I wouldn't give a DAMN what anonymous internet trolls say. But at heart, I'm a teacher, a coach.....so I do care deeply that some of our best citizens are remaining willfully ignorant and acting like Obama bot fan boys. That's frightening for the country, and I'm frightened for the country.
a point I think I made.....yes.
I think I must be tri-polar, a Cruz guy defending Walker while still enjoying the Trump show.
Kidding aside, good and important observation.
TRIPOLAR? Hah, good one.
At least you get it.......
And I too am a Cruz guy enjoying the Trump show immensely - and defending any one who Trump attacks from THE LEFT......because frankly, that’s a losing game and scary.
Attack from the right? LOVE IT. In fact, I’ve been doing that MUCH MUCH MUCH longer than Trump. So have a lot of us.
