Whenever anyone mentions how many failed businesses or bankruptcies a person has had, I am reminded that success is not the lack of failure, it is the persistence to move beyond failure. The only people who never fail are those that never really try.

Pretty much. One only need look at Silicon Valley and the number of serial entrepreneurs who have failed several times before hitting it big. People don’t know that Jules Verne for example, kept getting rejected by publishers for over 10 years before finally hitting it big. It’s not the failures in life that define us. It’s how we deal with failures and set backs.

Excellent post. I would like to add failure is not really an option in business. The business fails and that is it. It takes a special person to pick themselves up and start again. Government is the flip side of business. Failure is the only option in government. The success of government programs is the end of government programs. Government employees and programs are always rewarded with higher spending when they fail.
