That said, the guy that shot the lion is an ass.

And whether trophy hunting or for survival I would've shot the lion in the ass as well. It makes no difference. That crappy Val Kilmer movie about lions wasn't without truth to it.

All of these liberal faggots anthropomorphizing this lion while excusing away the slaughter of millions of unborn children and the sale of their body parts maakes me sick. As sick as those on FR who align themselves with them.

I don’t think it would be fun either. Except maybe for the wild pigs that can hurt you. We can get way too many of those in Texas.

Plus a lot of deer. They seem to know they are pretty safe in the town limits too, saw one at the bank the other day, trimming the hedges.

I think anyone convicted of poaching should have all there hunting rights taken away...I am all for responsible hunting....I believe that hunting deer and other food animals is responsible and right....there is nothing right about the type of hunting this dentist does.

I agree, completely. It's not for me, but I understand it and accept it as moral and right.

More info...

http://mic.com/articles/123012/walter-palmer-kills-13-year-old-lion-cecil-on-zimbabwe-safari

Cecil, at 13 y/o, may have been nearing the term of his longevity.

**Cecil had been a major tourist draw at Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park. The lion, who was reportedly fond of humans, was also part of an ongoing research project with Oxford University. Cecil had worn a GPS collar that allowed researchers to track his movements.**

Is it possible that people associated with the preserve, fed Cecil and *tamed* him to gain a rep for sighting him to raise popularity with tourists?

hunting is not for me but I grew up in communities where just about everyone hunted and most of theses hunters were great stewards of the land.

Palmer's Twitter statement

A statement from Zimbabwe National Parks said Palmer's fellow professional hunter, Theo Bronkhorst of Bushman Safaris, will face charges for the killing. "Theo Bronkhorst, a professional hunter with Bushman Safaris, is facing criminal charges for allegedly killing a collared lion on Antoinette farm in Gwayi Conservancy, Hwange district on 1 July 2015," the Telegraph reported.

I’m now in a rural community, most everyone gets their deer during deer season, I’m fine with that as they consume the meat.

I eat chicken, beef, pork..etc So I realize I am the same as the hunter that kills for food.....just a little more separated from the prey... but morally, I am exactly the same as the hunter.

I am not a hypocrite! I admit I am the same as the hunter.

Theo Bronchorst, a professional hunter with Bushman Safaris is facing criminal charges for allegedly killing Cecil the lion.

JOINT PRESS STATEMENT BY ZIMBABWE PARKS AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY AND SAFARI OPERATORS ASSOCIATION OF ZIMBABWE ON THE ILLEGAL HUNT OF A COLLARED LION AT ANTOINETTE FARM, HWANGE DISTRICT ON 1 JULY 2015 IN GWAYI CONSERVANCY BY BUSHMAN SAFARIS PROFESSIONAL HUNTER, THEO BRONKHORST.

Theo Bronchorst, a professional hunter with Bushman Safaris is facing criminal charges (VIC FALLS Police CR 27/07/2015) for allegedly killing a collared lion on Antoinette farm in Gwayi Conservancy, Hwange district on 1 July 2015. The lion named ‘Cecil’ was well known and regularly sighted by tourists in the Main camp area of Hwange National Park. It is alleged that the hunter connived with the Antoinette land owner, Mr. Honest Trymore Ndlovu to kill the lion. Ongoing investigations to date, suggest that the killing of the lion was illegal since the land owner was not allocated a lion on his hunting quota for 2015. Therefore, all persons implicated in this case are due to appear in court facing poaching charges.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management as the Regulatory Authority and custodian of all wild animals in Zimbabwe issues hunting permits and hunting quota for all hunting areas in Zimbabwe so that only animals on quota are to be hunted. In this case, both the professional hunter and land owner had no permit or quota to justify the offtake of the lion and therefore are liable for the illegal hunt.

Both professional hunter Theo Bronkhorst’s licence number 553 who was involved in the hunt and the owner of Antoinette farm, Mr. Honest Trymore Ndlovu are being jointly charged for illegally hunting the lion. The two are due to appear in court on Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Efforts are being made to interview the other professional hunter, Zane Bronkhorst, licence number 558, who was also involved in the illegal hunt.

The Professional Hunter Theo Bronkhosrt’s Licence has been suspended with immediate effect. The lion trophy has also been confiscated. The relevant stakeholders have been informed and are being updated about this matter.

I am with you but I will kill a tick and mosquitoes with the specially frightening and sharp proboscis.

If that makes me a bad person, then I will just have to have coffee with Saddam and Adolf in the afterlife.

I’ve mentioned this in other discussions about this sad incident, but I am looking forward to how the corrupt element in the local authority involved with the nature parks there is undoubtedly connected with the hunting permits being issued and how the animals are lured and how all of this is ultimately tied with the poaching and illegal skin and ivory trade. Exposing and suffocating this sort of thing can be the good that comes out of this sad episode.

People need to grow the hell up and put this into the context of Zimbabwe.

Its a wonder there was a lion there at all after Mugabe drove the white farmers out and drove the people to starvation. That caused the people to wipe out much of Zimbabwe’s own wildlife before they started raiding wildlife preserves of neighboring nations.
