The Tannery Arts Complex is a low rent housing and work space project funded by taxpayers for "artist" who can't live or work anywhere else because they can't sell their "art". The residents are ultra liberal pot smoking aging hippies who found a scam where the public gets to fund their free living lifestyle. Except it isn't free for the rest of us who have to pay the bill.

No mater where she was living or what her parents are like, that little girl’s rape and murder are horrendous.
Find the perp quickly,or this story will repeat itself.

Ok you have issues with this “community”...but that is really not important right now, what is important is that a little girl was murdered.

The Tannery was founded in 2009 as a public-private nonprofit project. In addition to the 100 live-work apartments in which Madyson and her mother lived, the complex features a café, a dance studio and a building of studios reserved for working artists.
A society where all things are derived from the government including a subsidy for your failed art career will produce a young person whose mind is twisted enough to do something like this.

Yes, everyone gets it. A little girl was murdered. The little girl was warned to stay away from parts of "the community" (you're trying to ignore) because of the "community" drug users.

"The community" and certainly the mother just might be the problem and somehow responsible for what happens around there.

BTW, "the community" is more of a taxpayer subsidized housing project for starving artists than an actual "community"

I'm somewhat familiar with Santa Cruz. The "community" is an old tannery that was converted into studios and housing for starving artists. If I'm not mistaken there is or was a huge homeless shelter near the "community" also.
