Assuming the rise of 200 feet doesn’t cause the oceanic crust to sink or compress.

Yes, the conjecture doesn’t account for any natural feedback mechanisms, like the one you mention. Way beyond our ability to anticipate, or probably even comprehend.

But wait, There’s more

New research confirms that the land under the Chesapeake Bay is sinking rapidly and projects that Washington, D.C., could drop by six or more inches in the next century—adding to the problems of sea-level rise.

Ha! Yep, they're supposed to be "good for you" too. I prefer anything chocolate, though.

From the article: "It's ironic that the nation's capital--the place least responsive to the dangers of climate change--is sitting in one of the worst spots it could be in terms of this land subsidence," said Paul Bierman, a UVM geologist and the senior author on the new paper. "Will the Congress just sit there with their feet getting ever wetter? What's next, forebulge denial?"

Sheesh. Now they'll be scaring schoolchildren with "forebulge hysteria". Sounds like a segue from sex-ed.

I used to fine fossilized shellfish all the way up the local mountains, up to 2,500 feet

My children and I used to find fossilized shellfish and corals in southwestern Ohio. There isn't a square inch of Earth that hasn't been ground down by glaciers, flooded, covered with lava, or in some other way changed drastically. when someone says they want to preserve the environment, I have to ask, which one?

What passes for science journalism these days is extraordinary.

I like to plant the seeds of doubt when talking to lib’s about these types of stories.

I tell them that they should pay more attention to the number of times they see the words,”if, could, may and might”.

Yes, you know when they use the word “consensus” it’s not scientific, it’s political.

This is such a Barbara Streisand article I can’t stand it.

When global warming peaked some 9,000 years ago, and thus bringing us into this current inter-glacial, sea level was about 20 to 30 feet higher than it is today.

The Earth’s climate has not warmed for about the past 18 years. Sea level is rising slightly, but the rate has slowed down considerably and has not risen above natural variability.

The Arctic ice isn’t going to melt by 2050, but instead will be considerably more due to the mini-ice age that is closing in on us according to climate scientists who speak accurately about it such as Piers Corbyn. Right now Arctic ice is considerably higher than it has been for the last 10 years. When, no if, we fall back into a full blown ice age sea level will drop by some 500 feet back to the each of the continental shelves where it was before this current inter-glacial period. And there will be plenty of ice for all.

Right now 90% of the Earth glaciers are growing.

200 feet? Really? I’d like to see the math on that.

Exactly. Looks like all lib strongholds so the only potential downside is if it happens so slowly that the libs escape and survive to contaminate formerly sane areas.
