How is the Trump Campaign Spending its Money?

On July 15th, the Federal Election Commission released the first batch of quarterly financial disclosure reports for the 2016 presidential campaigns.

I have gone through the data, and it came as no surprise that one campaign’s financials looked very different from the others. Here are a few of the interesting pieces to come out of the Donald Trump Campaign‘s financial disclosures. Where is the Trump campaign spending its money?

As of the reporting date, the Trump Campaign had spent a total of about $1.4M.

Here’s how it breaks down.

Travel is the largest expense category by a wide margin. Most of it falls under a single line item: a $506,486 expense to Tag Air, Inc. – a private airline owned by Donald Trump. The Campaign’s expenses also include payments to several other Trump entities:

$37,993 paid to The Trump Corporation as a “ONE-TIME REIMBURSEMENT FOR FACILITY, RESOURCES & DOMAIN NAMES” $19,166 rent paid to Trump Tower Commercial LLC $4,054 to the Trump Soho Hotel $1,380 paid to the Trump International Hotel And Tower $4,049 paid to Donald Trump himself for “IN-KIND – PRE-PAID PAYROLL” In total, at least 38% of the Trump Campaign’s $1.4m of expenses was paid to Trump-affiliated entities.

Smart man. No champagne and caviar for his campaign staff, though.

Well, doesn’t need a dime for advertising.

Obama’s most recent trip to his birthplace: $6 million.

It gets worse:

"In the summer of 2013, Mr. Obama took his family on a weeklong trip to sub-Saharan Africa that was estimated to cost taxpayers between $60 million and $100 million."

He’s spent only a pittance compared to what we’ve paid for the Obama vacations.

I love this. Trump’s businesses make money off his own campaign. The ultimate capitalist. Trump owns his own means of transportation to all over the globe. He can stay all over our country in his own hotels; he has them in many major cities here. The only thing he doesn’t have (yet) are his own TV and/or radio stations. I hope he branches out into that medium too one day.

When in NH he rented a church parking lot (tax write off as contribution) so his guest didn’t have to walk the hills to the facility he hired buses. Got a tent for press and provided cold water for all

In Iowa guests were treated to pulled pork picnic. Some local caterer’s business was given a boost.

He seems to help local economy when he visits. Thereby making more friends

He should find when Hillary is entertaining ecofreaks outdoors and buzz them with those greenhouse gas belching turbofans.

“Ha, you blew her wig off, you get a bonus, Roger.

DO YOU HAVE ANY GREY POUPON? Hahahaaa...”

He hasn’t needed to spend much, so far.

By hitting on hot-button issues, he captures headlines. Headlines are free marketing. Headlines turn into commentaries in the news media.

Other wannabes wish they had that kind of exposure. That is why they are coming out so vocally against Trump — they are hoping to get some of the free media attention.
