On Mondays edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Matt Mackowiak joined Chad to talk about current news in politics. Mackowiak and Hasty discussed the recent dust-up between Ted Cruz, senior Texas Senator John Cornyn and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
On the impact of Senator Cruzs recent comments on the floor of the Senate where he called Senator McConnell a liar, Mackowiak said,
Cruzs impact as a U.S. Senator is going to be minimal going forward. You know, hes going to be persona non grata within the Senate Republican leadership. And if youre a conservative you may think thats great, but if youre a Texan, you know, you might be wondering what is Cruz going to be doing the rest of his Senate term.
Mackowiak also talked about the debut Republican debate scheduled for August 06 in Cleveland, OH, and which candidates will likely be selected to appear. Hasty and Mackowiak specifically discussed Rick Perrys chances at being in the debate. The latest news on Donald Trump was also a topic in the conversation.

Sen Cruz is my Senator and I elected him to stand up to the Washington Party, not to become part of it.
I couldn’t give a damn if he’s gonna have a permanent record with them because of it.

Oh yeah, because all the highly visible stuff Cruz has done until now has been because the GOP establishment was behind him! [eyeroll]

I still think of myself as a “Republican” and will vote in the March 1 Texas primary, God willing, undoubtedly for Cruz, but I despise nearly all of the “Republicans” repeatedly nominated by primary voters.

It’s Hutchison, and she is a widow now. Hardly anyone noted Ray’s passing a year or two ago.

Ted Cruz is arguably the most brilliant politician in Washington in decades.
Ted Cruz is as close to 100% conservative and with traditional American values as there is anywhere in the federal government.
Ted Cruz is an honest man and a fearless advocate for Truth.
Ted Cruz is unflappable while under assault, maintaining an imposing bearing yet a respectful demeanor toward his attackers which even recently disarmed the crazies from Code Pink.
And just who the hell is Matt Mackowiak?

That’s because Ted Cruz will be president God willing.
I do believe Ted Cruz is setting the stage in Congress to clean house and set things in order when he does take the oath of office.
And when he does leave the presidential office he will be following in the foot steps of John Adams when he said “ I am just a citizen now. “.

watching a brilliant young man commit political suicide is painful Are you referring to Cruz? Uhhhhh, yeah, isn't that who the article was about??

It wasn’t a sarcastic question. I happen to agree with you.

I do think that, at least going by history, that a freshman Senator who called his leader a liar on the floor would be pretty much finished as a force in the Senate.

I seem to remember a one-term, back-bencher House member who had no other political experience to speak of going on to be the highest-rated president in our history by most historians. Maybe I just dreamed that.
