As a Jew I have been saying this for years: People ask me how Jews could have just walked into the ovens and my answer? You're watching it now.

I have lost Jewish friends over that.

Greenblat here is doing just the opposite of what ADL is supposed to do. He should be either praising Huckabee for his remarks, or at worst, be keeping quiet.”

Thank you for PINGing me to this discussion, JusticeSeeker.

I realize this is an issue on which Gentiles probably need to keep (mostly) quiet. Jewish conservatives cannot and should not be perceived as doing what non-Jewish people want them to do.

I'm PINGing this to the people on this thread who I know or think are Jewish Freepers, plus some others who have commented on this thread, and a few other high-profile Jewish Freepers.

I realize time may be on the side of the Orthodox, and of more traditionally observant Jewish people in other branches of Judaism, with their larger families and the increasing assimilation of liberal Jews due to atheism and intermarriage. I also understand why Jewish conservatives do not want to act rashly to break ties with organizations which have spent not just decades but a century or more defending Jewish life in America.

But there simply must be a time to say, “enough is enough.” Lots of Gentile conservatives who are supporters of Israel are sick and tired of being accused of being anti-Semitic. If someone like Huckabee, with his very long history of support for Israel, can be attacked by the Anti-Defamation League, can anyone who is a conservative evangelical Christian supporter of Israel avoid such false attacks?

Is faithhopecharity right when he wrote this:

I'd really appreciate hearing from Jewish Freepers on what you think about the possibility, either short or long-term, of either fixing or replacing ADL.

If your answer is, “Give us time, the liberals are dying off,” I can understand that answer. There's no sense in asking Jewish conservatives to act like secondary-separation Christian fundamentalists, breaking ties with every group that has problems. That's not your tradition.

But lots of Gentile supporters of Israel are annoyed when we see things like this. Sometime eventually something should be done. Maybe not today, but someday.

I think seven decades of evangelical Christian support for Israel has adequately proven our bona fides on this matter.

the hardest thing may be.... when an organization (or church or synagogue) goes bad, or loses its original purpose or effectiveness or faith......
the hardest thing may be to figure out what to do with (or about) it.

At one time, ADL was, I believe, mostly a very good organization ... helping both Jewish and some non-Jewish people overcome or deal with discrimination.

and now...after several years of not helping people so much, we are informed that an Obama operative is going to take over ADL!? Not at all promising of the direction the group needs to take, and that’s putting it very VERY tactfully.

When good Jewish students and professors are afraid to go to some major public, taxpayer-funded universities... or cannot get or hold proper positions in government agencies even when they hold superior qualifications.... then ADL has pretty much failed. And so much of what it seems to do is off-point these days, perhaps that’s why it fails so much?

IF it can be reformed for the better, fine. But it may very well be the time for concerned folks to start another outfit, instead.

I am outsider, so all I can say is that...we will see.....

Not all ADL officials are complete morons or Marxists or J Street traitors, but too many are.

Foxman was once a sane activist against anti-Semitism but he became an appendage of the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) and lost his way.

How a little group of about 3 key people became so powerful in the SPLC is a great investigative story in and of itself.
The Left knows how to take over organizations or create foundation-funded ones that get good media attention.

There are other groups and individuals out there, both Jewish and non-Jewish, who are carrying on the Herculean job of tracking and exposing the anti-semites of America, from all side re David Duke, Mondeweiss, National Action Network of Sharp Al, National of Islam, CAIR, IDONTCARE, ICNA, J Street, Moslem Student Association, Palestinian Students for Something, etc.

This includes Steve Emerson’s Terrorism Investigative Project, CAMERA (Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America, of which I was a researcher/speaker years ago), Pam Geller and her “Atlas Shrugged” site, Bruce Kesler’s columns at “Maggie’s Farm”, Robert Spencer, Daniel Pipes, Bert Prelutsky, David Horowitz’s “FrontPageMagazine.com”, Ruth King, Phyllis Chesler, Rael Jean Isaac, UCI, etc.

What the ADL refuses to acknowledge, and will continue to refuse to acknowledge under this ahole Greenblatt, is that the major threat to American Jews is from a convergent united front of American communists/Marxists and both native/immigrant/visa Moslems, especially in the universities as both students and teachers (some are friends of Obama, you know).

Also, Foxman never got it that American Christians are very good friends and supporters of both Judaism as a brethren religion and Israel as a Jewish state protector of the birthplace of Christianity.

Liberal-Left Jews are fools and always will be fools until one of their key leaders or their family members get shot, beheaded, or blown—up, not in Israel where terrorism is a daily way of life, but in the US, but it in another 9/11 attack or a localized jihadist “Aktzion”.

We are all Americans no matter what our religious beliefs are, and we know that we must stand united in the fact of the onslaught of atheists, communists, Islamic extremists, and damned fool liberals who have too much education and not enough common sense.
