The police had arrested a 14 year old drunk teen. The mob was trying to prevent the police from leaving with the teen, and to make the police let him go. The cops responded by pepper-spraying the mob.
“Making the police let him go” is the legal definition of the crime known as lynching. So I guess their new slogan is “Black Lynchings Matter”.
