The theater shooter in Lafayette LIED oh question 11F of the Form 4473. He had been committed to a mental institution. He was obligated to answer YES and instead answered NO. He committed a FELONY by lying on the form. The NICS system failed to catch the lie. The FFL had no means of vetting the answers or detecting the lie. NICS really is a waste of time and money. ATF never pursues or prosecutes the felony lies on Form 4473. We don't need more laws. Just effectively follow the ones that exist.

Purchasing/selling from a private party and not an FFL at a “gun show” is no different than buying from a private person placing an ad on a bulletin board.
Those pushing for the “gun show background checks” are outlawing private sales,
and this needs to be shouted from the rooftops.
