For many this will stir interest in the Confederacy and perhaps a better understanding of the different designs that evolved over several years during the Civil War. Interesting stuff for sure. It still remains a symbol of southern pride. Flags are still available to purchase from well established flag companies.

re: “Because Texas is more fun than Chicago, Wyoming than the Bronx, the Shenandoah than Oakland. Coyote Ugly with a chorus line of pretty girls in cowboy hats, jeans, and cowboy boots dancing on a bar is more fun than sipping wine on the East Side. Your home, your church – more fun. And safer is more fun, too, than the blue-state liberal view of crime as a sociological phenomenon best addressed by counseling.”

I was raised in New England, before it was ruined by liberalism, when it was still quiet in the off-season, and Hyannisport did NOT rule the rest of Cape Cod. I’ve lived in New York, on Long Island, and NOT in Queens. It was getting screwed up, in the ‘80’s, as NYC dwellers moved out, but did not shape up. I lived in Kaliphornia, in the 70’s and ‘80’s, with the interference of Governor Moonbeam jerry Brown - the first time.

I said all that, for this.

I lived in oregon, and had FUN.

I moved to louisiana, and am having fun. Not only have i had the pleasure of experiencing some of the things that justin Wilson talked about on oregon public broadcasting, I got to have of the REAL stuff!! I have been all across the southern end of the state, and north to various points ending in Shreveport. All sorts of little places to eat, and things to do. I lived in the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area, and yes, experienced a hurricane in different topography then what comprises Cape Cod. I traveled to Fort Jackson, a pre-Civil War era fort reclaimed from the swamp, at the mouth of the mississippi river, at the end of the Plaquemines parish peninsula. I live 3 miles from one of the Red river constrictor Civil War forts, being reclaimed. I live in the area, not far from that Jim Bowie’s plantation, and the Natchez Trail.

As being raised, and taught history with a New England perspective, there is a lot that happened down here, that i was not informed about. The major town in the area, during the Civil War and the Red River campaign, was burnt to the ground, and not by Sherman.

So much more richness and fun, i’ve not finished yet!

Publicly celebrated buggery that is

(So far the buggery itself isn’t public. But give it time.)

Actually, they don’t want black people (or anyone else) to realize the DemocRATS were the ones flying the Confederate flag .. not Repubs.

Oh I assure you....although I dont suggest it...there is photographic (and I mean very graphic) evidence on the net of very public buggery at some of these pride marches...while uniformed LEO’s stand and observe with orders to leave them alone.

Every despotic government needs a designated evil to vilify, an attractive counter-revolutionary seductive yet ultimately must be overcome and destroyed for the sake of The Party and the redemption of the oppressed.
Exemplified in “1984” as Emannuel Goldstein; lacking a particular individual, the current official sociopolitical demon is the Confederate Battle Flag and Southern culture in general. If not for the CBF, the Left would have to invent something.

it also came as the result of a political assassination following a few weeks of increased dismay at the left’s agenda.

the bruce jenner ‘brave’ bs along with the rachel dolezal ‘trans-racial’ crap had the lefts sacred cows reeling from public ridicule and sarcasm. the leadership on the left needed something radical to keep their ship from sailing over the shark.

and the next thing you know, a ‘white supremest’ spends 2 hours sitting in a black church only to kill the pastor (and other members in the room). the pastor was also a state rep who spent the day campaigning with hillary

most would associate swastikas with skin heads and white supremests... not the confederate battle flag. but if the left could connect the killing of blacks to the flag and call for its banning... they knew it’d knock the other stuff right out of the news cycle.

What do you have to say about the flag of my beautiful state of Maryland?

You sound like a person who loves to learn. I said recently that I need to live at least 50 more years because there is so much I want to learn. Love learning history and visiting historical sites. (Since I am now 68, what are the chances?)

Ha. Most people here got more guns than teeth. Tell 'em to send down all they got. We love ourselves a target-rich environment.

Ah, that was the state I was thinking of that made me say most instead of all.

It is still one of best designed sub-national flags in the world. Highly underrated.

It is the most beautiful of the state flags.

Of course, it has that evil Christian symbol in the cross bottony, so I suppose it will be banned soon.

dear biggred,

re: “You sound like a person who loves to learn. I said recently that I need to live at least 50 more years because there is so much I want to learn. Love learning history and visiting historical sites. (Since I am now 68, what are the chances?)”

68?? You are 5 ahead of me! I’m disabled, a vet, a former rocket scientist - for real, a published writer - see Long Ridge Writers’ Group for an alternate means of learning, for a start. You live, you learn, although at our aggregate age, it might not make it to the resume’, if you get my meaning.

I took the equivalency tests for 2 years of college, and succeeded. I challenged the test for ‘Colonial Literature’, and succeeded. For a little known place in Connecticut, look up Fort Stamford. For a few places in Delaware, look up the first school, set up in the region near the Bombay Hook preserve. For a peek at posh, look up Dowling College, a former residence of THE Vanderbilts. For a look at a reclaimed Civil War fort, do look up Fort Jackson. For a look at coastal defense batteries with big guns, look up Lewes, delaware, or, on YouTube. For an overview of ‘glory hole’ mining, look up the Calico Ghost Town. For a historical look at part of my old family, look up the Yuma subsect tribe called the Mojaves.

Now, get to it! many moons bless’um you!
