Sen. Orrin Hatch scolds Sen. Ted Cruz for saying Senate leader lied about Export-Import vote

Without invoking his name, Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah scolded fellow Republican Sen. Ted Cruz on Sunday for publicly accusing their party leader of lying about a deal to revive an obscure government agency, saying comity in the august chamber is both tradition and simply “the honorable thing to do.”....

“We’re not here on some frolic or to pursue personal ambitions,” Mr. Hatch said, adding that he worries for the future of the institution.

He said bonds of trust are essential when lawmakers of differing parties and backgrounds come together to debate the hot topics of the day.

“But we do not become enemies. We remain colleagues, and colleagues treat each other with respect,” the longtime senator said.

Mr. Cruz shocked Capitol Hill on Friday when he said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell lied to him... He doubled down on his position Sunday, saying that while he agrees with Mr. Hatch on decorum, he feels lawmakers should be truthful with each other.

Mr. McConnell hasn’t responded to Mr. Cruz directly. But he justified himself on the floor Sunday...

“When there is overwhelming bipartisan support for an idea, even if I oppose it, it doesn’t require some ‘special deal’ to see a vote occur on that measure,” he said. “This is the United States Senate, after all, where we debate and vote on all kinds of different issues.”

Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, said Mr. McConnell never sought to revive the bank.

“I’d have to say he’s mistaken,” Mr. Cornyn said of Mr. Cruz. “I hear no one else making such a similar accusation.”

He also opposed Mr. Cruz’s proposals to open up the amendment process, saying it would lead to chaos and bad policy.

That is a good thing. But, Coats “retired” once before - and then came back to life 12 years later after serving as Ambassador to Germany under W.

He needs to be given “encouragement” to follow through with his departure. A good, financially supported candidate will be all the encouragement he needs if he starts having second thoughts.

John Cornyn is such a joke! He is a liar, too. Says one thing...does another. Donated $5000 to help steal the primary election for senile GOPe Thad Cochran in MS.

As of this morning I can't reply to any Cornyn posts on Facebook! I've been put in timeout!

I can't stand lying John Cornyn!

Does Orrin not care that he was lied to as well?

Remember “a senator’s word is as good as gold” which means their lies are not lies. It is a senate rule which takes precedence over reality.

Orrin Hatch should have let Ted Kennedy drink himself to death. Instead, he helped his “friend” get sober, so he could have another fifteen years of life in which to kill babies and give aid and comfort to the country’s enemies.

Glad ya brought that up.

Can't trust politicians or talk radio. Levin ended up supporting him in the end. Joy.

Did anyone see where Hatch said “Sen. McConnell did NOT lie to us?” Maybe I missed it?

>>>> some RINO said: "colleagues treat each other with respect"

>> Even if they don't deserve it?

Had they been contemporaries, McConnell and his Three Stooges ( Alexandra, Cornhole, and Whore'n Orrin ) wouldn't spend a microsecond defending Joe McCarthy. They'd sell him and America out in a heartbeat to make him go away. Even if they had the Venona cables transcribed on the podium next to them.

The irony is that Cruz sprung a nice trap here ... How do you take to the floor and call the guy calling you a liar, a liar?! Bwahahahaha!

Hatch is one of the Senate’s accomplished liars.

“But we do not become enemies. We remain colleagues, and colleagues treat each other with respect,” the longtime senator said.

And I would assume that he considers lying to their "colleagues" in order to subvert Conservatism into Leftism is being "respectful"

Funny how the bad ones always hate when the Truth peeks its head out because when Truth appears, they are all unclothed.

Not 3 minutes into his program Hannity has said he has direct confirmations from other senators that Cruz is telling the truth and that McConnell lied, and did in fact state "there is no deal".

Hannity has not disclosed the Senators names as of yet. Something about being afraid to go on the record.

Now this story has real legs. And in my opinion could spawn the basis to take down the (R)at leadership and those that are giving cover to McConnell.

I said last week Hannity would pivot after his joining the RINOs on Fox attempting to kneecap Trump over the McCain remarks. In the wake of a populist groundswell Sean has found his exit door. Welcome back to sanity Hannity. Better late than never.

So Hannity now has political dynamite in his satchel. He better not let it go un-detonated. If I were him I would get the list of names from Cruz of all the Senators present, seek out every one of the cowards who had a chance yesterday to comment at the Sunday Senate session, and force them to confirm or deny the McConnell lie. This information is critical for the voters to know.

Also, Hannity will be having Ted Cruz on “shortly”.

( unfortunately Hannity has a well-known sneaky method of announcing something without a specific time and pushes it further and further out just to keep you listening. )
