Gov. Walker keeps low profile at funeral
Local | July 26, 2015 | From The Deer Stand

Governor and presidential candidate Scott Walker offered his condolences to family on Saturday at the funeral service of Marine Sgt Carson Holmquist in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Sgt. Holmquist was one of five who were murdered in a terrorism attack in Chattanooga, TN on July 16. While a large crowd was paying their respects to Sgt. Holmquist, Governor Walker arrived in Grantsburg quietly and met with family members. According to one law enforcement officer on the scene, Governor Walker was in and out of town before anyone knew he was there. "He wanted to keep a low profile. The day was not about him, it was about Sgt. Holmquist," the officer noted. "The media didn't even know he was here," the officer added.

That was a class move, I'll give him that.

For contrast remember the Paul Welfare funeral.

I would have expected nothing less. Too bad not all politicians would do the same.

Classy move. He was there as Governor of Wisconsin representing the condolences of the people of the state. Candidate Walker was nowhere near this event.

He also ordered the flags in Wisconsin to half mast after the shooting, unlike our President.

I’m sure Trump would have also been in and out without the media even knowing he was there. Who knows? Maybe he was?

Tongue in cheek, yes, and Trump had no reason to be there, but I can’t see him behaving like Governor Walker did.

Walker will continue to impress more and more people as they get to know him because he conducts himself like a true leader should, showing respect for others while getting the job done that he was elected to do. That is the reason he was overwhelmingly re-elected Milwaukee County Executive (with 59% of the vote) despite it being a heavily Democrat county.
