So what do you care? What’s YOUR motivation?

(a) I find American politics interesting

(b) like it or not, the US has a big effect on other countries, especially ones close by, so I sort-of have an interest in this (Keystone, etc.)

(c) sometimes it helps to have an objective outside observer's input
