Paulus, you said:
“Nonsense. It was just what is claimed- Wild. You people live in a fantasy world. Do you really want every psychotic, drunk and 13 year old youth to carry a gun? You open carry nuts all over look the fact that it was the towns in the 1860’s through the 1880’s that limited the carrying of fire arms. Experience limited open carry by everyone. There was a reason for the imposed limits. Common sense has flown from this country.”

You would do better if you posted this on a liberal website as they believe as you do.

The issue is ALWAYS the validity or lack of validity of any given argument, NOT ad hominem babble.

Exactly and that is why you are wrong - your argument is not valid (that means invalid) as the constitution overrules your argument/opinion.

I said that I am against everybody carrying a gun as they want. I did not say people should not own guns. I am opposed to psychotics, felons, drunks and children carrying guns. I would not allow psychotics, drunks and felons to even own guns.

I know, I know it is all a dream towns never learned to limit the carrying of guns within their town limits; Wild Bill was never shot in a bar; the Gun Fight at the OK corral never happened. You people are unreal. ALL Constitutional Rights are subject to the rule of common sense. Free speech is limited by laws of libel and slander; Religion was limited by forbidding polygamy in the 1880's; assembly by "The Riot Act". Not everyone should be allowed to carry a gun. We have had recent examples. Do you really believe every drunk, and nut should carry a gun?

Where in the poll does it say "everyone"? Obviously you bought into their line of thinking.

Consider the thought that if a would be criminal sees several people open carrying he still has to ask himself, "How many are carrying that I don't see?"

I think we have to disagree on that one. Open carry draws unnecessary attention to the carrier and may bring on an attack by someone wanting to take your weapon. I support open carry but I don’t think its the best way.

So you would willing to support laws prohibiting citizens from openly exercising their 2nd Amendment rights?

Kinda like giving people the right to say anything under the First Amendment as long as nobody hears what you say?

Does the Constitution specify the manner in which arms may be borne?

Was the 2nd Amendment not passed in order that Citizens would have the unfettered right to bear arms in any manner in which they personally felt would be best for their own protection?

FWIW, I think it takes a lot more time to reach into your fanny pack or your purse to pull out a gun than it does to yank it out of a side holster in a position ready to use immediately. Policemen don't conceal carry. They side carry. Why should citizens be required to be less prepared to react to an attack than the police?

The constitution must be interpreted and there are rules developed over the centuries; one rule being avoid absurdities such as psychotics owning and carrying firearms; “falsely shouting fire in a crowded theater.”

I’d rather not be put in a situation where I’d have to draw my gun. If it’s concealed that’s exactly what might happen.

Better to have it in view.

I would not allow psychotics, drunks and felons to even own guns.

The government could just declare anyone who wanted to carry a weapon as a psychotic or anyone who has ever had more than 2 beers at a sitting a "drunk" or anyone who has ever peed in a bush off the highway a "felon".

You see the slippery slope, don't you?

With ICE dumping criminal illegals on the streets, the courts not allowing to anyone lock up any lunatics and then again only half the criminals, I believe that it is every able-bodied American’s solemn DUTY to carry in public!

You people live in a fantasy world.

By "YOU PEOPLE" are you referring to everyone who is a strong believer in the 2nd Amendment?

Why then are YOU here cavorting amongst "Us People"? Are you not ashamed to be found in our midst?

Why don't you go post to DU or Huffington Post if you don't like to hang around "Us People"? You can find a lot of people there that you would not have to denigrate by calling them "You People".

It sure was 'wild' to the people who lived in cities with paved sidewalks and streets that didn't turn to mud when it rained. Why, it was full of "wild" Indians and "wild" cowboys and hardly a symphony or opera to be found. People used horses and mules and wagons and buggies (just like people back east did). Hmmmmm. Harpers wanted to sell magazines, too, and Buffalo Bill achieved fame and fortune doing a traveling show. Despite the untamed land (not under plow, nor street, nor a building), the people were held to much the same social constraints as people elsewhere.

The biggest killers were disease and accidents.

Nowadays, Police are people, too (or so I have heard). They open carry for the most part.

You can open carry in a way that is not so obvious, but the mere presence of a firearm is not an invitation to a shoot-out, concealed or otherwise. People tend not to pick fights when there is a reasonable possibility it may get them hurt or killed.

When it is really hot, a small breeze can 'print' your firearm, placing you in violation of concealed carry statutes because your sidearm is no longer technically concealed.

No one is calling for inner city 13-year olds, nor psychopaths nor drunks to be running around with a handgun or other firearms, but when I was a kid, we carried our rifles often in a rural setting, and the neighbors thought nothing of it. (I started deer hunting at the ripe old age of nine, and harvested my first at 11--after having put dozens of ducks on the table.)

It would be nice to be able to transport a hunting or target shooting arm to my vehicle without having to wrap it up and disguise it for fear someone was going to go ballistic and call out SWAT for me going off to the range to sight in a new scope or check out some ammo.

91% yes with 216,000 voters. Seems pretty one sided.
