Turkey launches air raids against IS militants in Syria (Turkey Attacks Syria)

Turkey has launched a third wave of raids against Islamic State jihadists in Syria, and a new campaign to bombard camps of Kurdish militants in northern Iraq, prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu said.

"We have given instructions for a third series of strikes in Syria and Iraq. Air and ground operations are under way," Mr Davutoglu told reporters in the capital, Ankara.

"No one should doubt out determination," he added.

"We will not allow Turkey to be turned into a lawless country."

The two-pronged operation against Islamic State (IS) and Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants — two groups who are themselves bitterly opposed — came after a week of deadly violence in Turkey that the authorities blamed on the organisations.

It comes as violent pro-Kurdish demonstrations, and a major police operation detaining suspected militants of all persuasions, is gripping many areas of the country.

Mr Davutoglu said a total 590 suspected members of IS, PKK and other militant groups had been arrested in raids across Turkey that began on Friday morning and continued Saturday.

This world is “spiraling down”, into full blown war.

Closer to the mark than you may think.

I imagine two things.

1. Obama Admin promised Iran to get through the sanction deal if they helped in Iraq.

2. Obama Admin told Turkey that the administration won’t make a big brouhaha about Turkey hitting some PKK camps if they helped in Iraq and Syria.

Would like to see Donald Trump respond to Iran’s and N. Korea threats.

Turkey's still in NATO. How does this work for us when Iraqi Kurds attack inside Turkey? And then on another thread, there's very unpublicized news that the US is taking the next step and actually training Kiev's soldiers. One has to wonder how they will behave when trained and armed by the US. Will there be some flashpoint when Europe finally pushes back against German banks and migrants from third-world sewers, before it's to late? And what about India and Pakistan arming themselves even more? And China building islands so as to increase its regional domination and territory?

Don't know that the puppet masters can keep all of those genies in the bottle.

The two-pronged operation against Islamic State (IS)…

But Barry said it was the JV. 590 inside your country? Just workplace violence. Get with the propaganda. Seal your border. It works for ISIUSA. Keep calm and eat arugula.

Yes, the Kurds. That’s the problem in the middle east. If anyone over there deserves a country, its the Kurds.

At least this report from down under clearly mentions there are two different air strikes going on. One against the Kurd separatists who seem to be also fighting on two fronts. One against the same enemy. Depending on the reporting source some don’t.

Iran and Turkey with boots on the ground; opposing the Saudi proxy. Looks like Assad has successfully escalated the matter and changed the focus.

Meanwhile the Nobel prize winner is touring the country of his birth.
