Genesis are an English rock band formed in Godalming, Surrey in 1967, with Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips and Chris Stewart as founding members. The band has had numerous line-ups throughout its history, of which eleven musicians became full time members. Its most recent formation comprised two founding members — keyboardist Tony Banks and bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford — and drummer/singer Phil Collins, who joined in 1970. MUSIC FOR WALLERIN’

Beethoven: Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat, Op. 16, Second Movement

This slow movement is a tip of the hat to Mozart, and it’s gorgeous, every bit as good as Mozart.

Pleasant and quiet. I’ve been posting wallerin’ music for a good part of the day. There’s plenty for you to listen to when you have the time, the glass of wine and the box of tissues.

MUSIC FOR WALLERIN’

Mozart: Piano Concerto #20 in D minor, K. 466, Second Movement

Before there was a recording industry, this was always thought by laymen to be “the” Mozart piano concerto. Thanks to the industry, we know it as one of 27 piano concerti by the Master. It’s beautiful and placid – until you reach the stormy middle section. But the beauty returns at the end. This is Condoleeza Rice’s favorite concerto, and she played it in her first public concert as a teenager.

MUSIC FOR WALLERIN’

Mozart: Piano Concerto #21 in C, K. 467, Second Movement

The 60s Swedish film “Elvira Madigan” made this movement famous, but if you can put that execrable movie out of your head, you’ll hear something wonderful.
