If you go by the public beliefs yes, but if you go by core nation building principles instilled in the U. S. at it’s inception, no.
Just because the whole citizenship goes bat “stuff” Left, it doesn’t change where the center remains, even if nobody resides there any longer.
Perhaps this is a rotten example, but let’s take the Bible. I consider the Bible to be God’s blueprint for us. It’s placement on the scale of things doesn’t change just because humans don’t abide by it’s teachings the way they should.
People drift. It doesn’t.

I've always considered myself to be fairly smart, but there's no way in the world I could ever think on my feet the way Koch did that day. That's why I've remembered it all these years.
Just like you watch the Olympics to see the best young athletes in the world turn in the best performances of their lives under incredible pressure, when you heard Mayor Koch handle the press you were hearing a political genius doing Olympic-level mental and verbal gymnastics on a daily basis. I never knew him to disappoint.
He makes the current Mayor look like an absolute moron, although admittedly that's not hard because the current mayor actually is a moron.

There are a few guys like Koch that I recognize as thinking people. I probably won’t agree with them all the time, but when they’re right they’re right.
I know some “Republicans” that argue against fighting the system and say we can’t stop Amnesty and the rest. They also say “nobody is more Conservative than me.”
It’s hard to tell the difference between them and the liberals on the Democrats side.

That’s it, if you can get a liberal to shut his mouth long enough for you to tell him something, almost anything, that actually makes sense he is almost certain to react as if you are some raving maniac. You have to say something utterly stupid to get any agreement from them. I have been told by liberals such things as, “Abortion is about fertilized eggs, not fetuses.” When someone says something that stupid and still thinks HE is the smartest guy in the county, never mind a room, you know you are dealing with a full blown nutcase and it has ZERO to do with IQ, some of the most pathetic idiots on the Earth have genius level IQ scores.
