About three quarters of Republican early-state insiders say they believe Donald Trump has peaked — but many acknowledge that may also be wishful thinking.
That’s the assessment from this week’s POLITICO Caucus, our weekly bipartisan survey of the top operatives, strategists and activists in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The controversial real estate mogul and GOP presidential candidate provoked some caucus insiders into offering expletives and other colorful language when asked whether Trump has hit his ceiling.
“The McCain smear and giving out Graham’s cellphone? What an asshole,” vented a New Hampshire Republican, who says Trump has peaked. “Trumpism does not represent some deeper sentiment within the party, nor has he tapped into something a more conventional candidate can now co-opt. His candidacy has as much substance and meaning as cotton candy. I didn’t like him before. Now I loathe him.”
An Iowa Republican said, “yes,” when asked whether Trump has hit his zenith, but clarified, “I’d like to think so. But who the hell really knows anymore?”
The insiders weighed in following another week in which Trump dominated political coverage.

I said earlier that Trump is well into his 15 minutes here. I also said that - so what? He can just buy himself another 15 minutes.

Strange since last week he was imploding and finished.
They need to team up but not third party.

Most voters are Independent, no loyalty to the DNC or GOP. With that being the case why can’t a third party win?
Don’t drink the cool-aid saying it won’t/can’t happen. Drastic measures require drastic actions.
yes, there are a few pundits (and a lot of Freepers) that should be eating crow right now. I should ping a few of them but they are very emotional right now.
I’m for them going third only if he gets pushed from debates and Bush wins with chicanery. Then all bets are off.

The Tea Party failed because there was no leader. Those leaderless voters have found Trump and more are joining each day.

Trump has a lot more in him that needs to be released. With Conservatives in DC the caucus could find enough corruption and criminal activity to last until election day..drip, drip, drip. “Your gonna see something you ain’t never seen before!” The gop-es and their buddies in crime are so involved with their DC operations, they just don’t see that US/WTP are awakening and WE WILL BE HEARD. From the lowly party chair to the Senate Floor Leader, and the Speaker - EVERY CRIMINAL will be so noted and punished. Get ready for the tsunami of the century.
